I ENJOYED THE FIVE STAR RESORT SINCE 2007 WHEN IT WAS 0PENED .
During T 14 YEARS , I observed constant improvements , mainly the children program , better sports club equipment , several times a week live entertainment at the beach bar , beach mar relocated closer to beach for ocean view , and many others to mention . The management , in the last several years mastered the art of Marketing , the association with the Edward Jones Global Reservation System is a great achievment.
High expectations, low delivery
We were very excited to stay at the Landings due to great reviews and wonderful photos. Our stay at the property was below satisfactory - we actually left the resort several days early and went to another vacation spot. While the apartments are nice and well furnished, the food is so mediocre that it is hard to even describe - we were not able to order one dish on the menu that was eatable including pancakes (they were soggy and tasteless). Prices were shockingly high (5 chicken wings (small, pigeon like !!) for $25). In addition, the property is quite secluded and feels very small - one can feel claustrophobic in a day or two as the beach is small and does not connect to other beaches. Management was polite but definitely not helpful, slow and not straightforward with us.
We had a wonderful stay at the Landings, best beach on the island The resort is kids friendly and they have a really cute kids playground too. Staff are nice and friendly too. Looking forward returning.
When we arrived at the airport all our travel COVID test results were verified and all protocols seem to be in place, temperature checks etc. , swift and efficient transit through the airport. The taxi driver was very aware of the protocols, wearing a mask (covering mouth and nose) leaving all 4 windows open for ventilation during the journey, visible bottles of sanitiser available. On arrival at The Landings we were taken to the nurses station, temperature checked and given a PCR test, given wristbands to identify what stage of the process we were at and escorted to our room. That night we had room service, again efficient and fully masked delivery. At 7am the next day we received negative test results had our wristbands changed to denote negative and we were free to go to the beach etc. Since then we have noticed how well trained the staff are in COVID protocols, not once have I seen anyone wearing their mask below their nose. We went out on a canoe and on our return the canoe was immediately sanitised with a special machine and our life vests placed in a barrel of sanitising liquid, I was astounded. For anyone feeling nervous about care and attention to COVID details I recommend you come here. I do not mean to sound over the top about all this but I am very pleased to see the staff so aware because it makes the experience so much more relaxed. The rooms here are spacious and fabulous, non are rooms, they are all suites. The beach is amazing, clear blue sea and a very relaxed environment, beautiful place to be.
Upon arrival our family had to take an invasive and unpleasant Covid Test and we were then quarantined in our room for over 24 hours. We were not advised of this requirement in advance. The PCR test we had just taken in the UK with the negative certification counted for nothing. We heard that another family got a 'false positive' test and had to take another, they were stuck in their room for over 4 days, so we were 'lucky'! Whilst in quarantine we received virtually no information or updates. Following 'release' there was very little information available as to what was available at the resort (no gym etc), and getting information on available excursions was frustratingly difficult. I don't know why this was the case, it would have been very easy just to be upfront and produce a simple fact sheet. The atmosphere at the Palms was completely lacking, so we ate at the Beach Club for the whole holiday, where the staff were good but the menu was repetitive. The beach is lovely, and we eventually managed to book some excursions, but when you pay as much as we did, you expect better or at least a large Covid discount.
