This beachfront resort is styled as a Thai village with opulent details and lagoon-filled gardens.
Get lost in a sanctuary of tropical gardens and elaborate Thai buildings at the original Anantara resort. It’s an escape made for slowing down, where days are reserved for melting massages at the exquisite spa, relishing in a good book by the sea and maybe working up an appetite with a round of golf at one of the seven courses nearby. Come happy hour, settle down by the pool after your mildly strenuous day and choose your cocktail before heading for some salty, sweet and sour pad thai at Rim Nam. If you’re craving a little bit of civilisation, hop on the resort shuttle and visit Hua Hin town centre, the original summer residence of choice for the Thai royal family.
Why we love Anantara Hua Hin
-
It’s in a great and peaceful setting on a sweep of pristine sand, but with shops, golf courses and attractions in easy reach
-
The design – a reimagining of a traditional Thai village, with gabled pavilions and lotus ponds – is supremely elegant
-
It’s hard to imagine anything more soothing than a four-hand Thai massage in the outdoor pavilion in the spa’s lush garden
-
There’s so much to do, from Muay Thai boxing classes and snorkelling tours to self-guided trips on Anantara’s own scooters
Rooms
Retire to your ultra-comfortable king-size bed, where you’ll have a view of the gardens, sea or lagoon. The 190 rooms and suites are modern yet traditional, with dark, polished wood and Thai silk adorning the bed. A garden terrace or balcony encourages you to sit and take in your view – we recommend a Junior Lagoon View Suite for an impossibly romantic hideaway overlooking the water lilies.

Anantara Spa is a hidden sanctuary of outdoor massage pavilions set in tropical gardens. There are steamrooms, a sauna and each of the treatment rooms has a private shower, and there are couples’ treatments available to top off a special occasion or lovers’ retreat.
At the resort you can try Thai boxing, have a game of tennis on the floodlit courts or have a game of the table tennis. Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, Huay Mongkol Temple and the Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park are some of the ancient sites worthy of a visit. For something different, take lunch at the Hua Hin Hills Vineyard whilst the night markets are great for picking up souvenirs.
Hua Hin is famous as a kitesurfing destination or you may prefer to explore by sea kayak. Two hours off the coast is Koh Talu, a small island perfect for snorkelling.
The Baan Pla Noi Children's Club provides arts and crafts sessions, Thai language lessons and cooking classes.
Just a few minutes from the resort is the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course, Thailand's first course. Other golf courses include Springfield Royal Country Club, Banyan Golf Club, Palm Hills Golf Club and the Black Mountain Golf Club.
This hotel has a wheelchair accessible room.
No departures 30 & 31 Dec.
