Super service and magical sunsets on Lombok’s sugar-white sands.
Romantically overgrown, filled with extravagant artefacts and with views of the Gili Islands, Hotel Tugu Lombok takes a lived-in approach to luxury. It’s a curiosity cabinet of Chinese and Indonesian antique finds but also a glorious escape of rustic dining, spa and infinity pool. Backed by Mount Rinjani and nose-to-nose with white sands, you’re blissfully marooned in paradise.
Why we love Hotel Tugu Lombok
-
Just a 20-minute boat ride to the Gili Islands.
-
Charter the hotel’s traditional dragon boat for a magical sunset sail.
-
With Mount Rinjani behind you, it’s worth waking up early for a spectacular sunrise.
-
The stunning 18-hole championship golf course next door.
Rooms
The 35 individually-styled bungalows, suites and villas are bold, brilliant and unlike anywhere else on the island. Where elaborate designs meets bespoke Indonesian style, more is definitely more here. Celebrate late 19th-Century Peranakan culture in an Ampenan Bungalow or head to a colonial-styled Aloon Aloon Garden Villa to indulge in a private palm-filled garden and sunken bathtub. The Mahabharata-themed Bhagavat Gita Oceanfront Suites are definitely worth the splurge, thanks to their uninterrupted sea views and private plunge pools. Or opt for the extravagant Puri Dadap Merah Villa – a temple-styled villa with a petal-shaped pool, sea-facing spa and private rooftop dining area.
Facilities
Kokok Pletok is the main restaurant, an all-day poolside dining pavilion with a menu that focuses on local flavours and international cuisines. Gedong Gandrung is the hotel's intimate second restaurant. The hotel also offers the option to ‘dine anywhere’ – similar to a ‘dine by design’, you can eat in the hotel's gardens, on a candlelit table at the beach or even in a private pavilion above one of the beautiful lotus ponds. If you’re keen to try local flavours, the hotel offers a number of themed experiences you can book onto; there’s a Full Moon Barbecue, a Chinese-fused Babah Peranakan dinner and a Grand Rijsttafel (Rice Table); a traditional feast dating back to the colonial years. For drinks, the Lara Djonggrang Bar is an intimate venue with a long teak bar, bamboo windows, oil lamp lighting and a brick-walled wine cellar.

Meaning 'heavenly silence' the Hening Swarga Spa is housed in a large open-air temple. With the sounds of the Indian Ocean, treatments include warm volcanic stone massages, floral aromatherapy pampering and packages based on Royal Javanese ancient full body pampering.
Yoga and meditation classes and spiritual blessings all take place here.
Just 20-minutes from Tugu Lombok are the islands of Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. These coral-fringed islands attract snorkellers and divers due to the colourful marine life.
Much of the interiors of Hotel Tugu are made from recycled materials and there are zero waste and no plastic initiatives. The local community is supported with weekly English lessons and a library has been created. The restaurants have a farm-to-table policy using vegetables and coffee grown on Tugu's East Java plantation. Cooking oils are recycled to be made into candles and used in the lamps.
