A simple Agafay escape for Atlas views, starry nights, and a comfortable sleep under canvas.
Around 45 minutes from Marrakech, the road opens onto Agafay’s stony hills and wide views towards the Atlas Mountains. Émeraude keeps things small, with just five individually styled tents, each with its own bathroom and terrace, plus an outdoor pool for hot afternoons. The pleasures are uncomplicated: Berber tea outside, a camel ride as the light fades, Moroccan food for dinner, and a blanket on the terrace once the stars come out. It’s an easy way to add a night in the desert to a Marrakech stay without heading all the way to the Sahara.

Rooms
There’s no forgetting you’re sleeping in the desert here. Canvas, earthy colours, locally made furniture, and private terraces keep the tents connected to the landscape, while proper beds, private bathrooms, hot showers, and heating take care of comfort. The two main choices are a traditional canvas tent or a more contemporary panoramic tent, with the latter putting much more of the Agafay view in front of you.

Facilities
Meals keep things Moroccan and straightforward, with tagines, homemade bread, tea, and local flavours fitting naturally into a night in Agafay. Meals are served at the camp, so evenings can stay focused on the desert setting, with dinner followed by time around the fire or beneath the stars.

Quad bikes, buggies, and sidecar trips can all be arranged, while hot-air ballooning is another option for seeing the landscape from a very different angle. Sunset is the obvious time for a camel ride, but keeping an hour free at sunrise pays off too, especially when the Atlas Mountains are clear.
Children are welcome, and the Deluxe Tent is the better option when you need a third bed.
