Things to do in South Africa

A warm welcome and service guaranteed at the Pepperclub

We offer something for everyone – a bespoke tour, a film in our private cinema or a cocktail on our pool deck overlooking Table Mountain…

By Efi Ella
General Manager

At Pepperclub we think of ourselves as a five-star hotel that offers something for everyone, whether that’s a bespoke tour, a film in our private cinema or a cocktail on our pool deck, which looks out to Table Mountain. We offer a very relaxed environment, with excellent amenities, and we’re well priced.

Not far from the city’s waterfront bars and restaurants, the hotel is also close to Long Street and Bree Street – which is now at the heart of the foodie scene. During the summer we offer a shuttle service to Camps Bay, where visitors can relax on the beach, and we can take guests to Table Mountain for the cable car, or they can walk there in just a few minutes.

Pepperclub opened for the football World Cup in 2010 and since then we’ve worked hard on our food philosophy. At Coppa, our world-renowned chef Shane Louw has crafted a seasonal menu that showcases local flavours. There’s a strong Cape Malay influence. The traditional Cape Malay chicken curry served with tomato, red onion and coriander salsa, cucumber raita, roti, lemon and almond-scented rice and spiced poppadom is a particularly popular dish.

Our staff, several of whom have been with us since day one, really sets us apart. Nothing is too much trouble. Avril, our food and beverage supervisor, reservation supervisor Claudia and housekeeping supervisor Samantha, have all been with us since 2010. Guests return for our particular brand of warm and friendly South African hospitality.

Alfred & Efi Ella

Being born into a family of hoteliers definitely influenced my career path. The hospitality industry is more than just a job; it's a way of life. My first job was as a dishwasher steward before I went on to study hotel management in Switzerland and take a masters at Cornell. Over the past 20 years I’ve been fortunate to work in several hotels overseas, but I'm very happy to have landed at Pepper Club.

Plan your holiday withAlfred&

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Laura, who's travelled extensively in South Africa. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - ex banker who can show you the hottest foodie spots in Cape Town, the award-winning young sommelier who can introduce you to Stellenbosch's finest wines and the walking safari ranger who can guide you to the best game.
