Cordial Mogán Playa

A Canarian village-style cluster of pastel buildings with a tranquil vibe.

Puerto de Mogán has been dubbed Little Venice for its web of bridged canals and pretty streets. The palm-strewn marina is backed by charming houses; white-washed façades punctuated by brightly painted shutters and bougainvillea-draped balconies. A waterfront promenade is lined with quaint restaurants and bars, while a golden half-moon of sand is the perfect spot to bask in the Canaries’ famed 2820-plus hours of yearly sunshine.

A 10-minute walk from the port takes you to Cordial Mogán Playa, a peaceful hideout tucked away in a quiet corner of the fishing village. Styled like a Canarian village, a cluster of pastel-coloured buildings are scattered throughout a sweet-scented botanical garden – home to 450 species of subtropical plant. Fanning palms and fuchsia-pink flowers wrap around two swimming pools, each edged by a sun area with canary-yellow parasols and a small man-made beach with fine sand. Rooms are warm and welcoming, with tiled floors and glowing floor lamps; pick a Standard Double Balcony or Terrace Room for a slice of outdoor living, or upgrade to a Standard Balcony or Terrace Junior Suite for super-spacious digs with a living room.

The tranquil spa has an indoor massage pool, hot tub, steamroom, sauna and sensory showers, plus treatment rooms (two for couples). Flanking the hotel is Las Crucecitas, an archaeological park with ancient crypts and caves, where you can go trekking and exploring, free of charge as a hotel guest.
