Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui

Chic hideaway in nature

An elegant eco resort with exceptional service and luxurious spa treatments in a tranquil natural setting.

Framing a beautiful cove on the north-eastern side of the island, it’s hard to imagine a more romantic and serene private hideaway than Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui. This Banyan Tree-run hotel was sensitively built without cutting down a single large tree, and that passion for nature and the surrounding environment remains strong today, in harmony with the resort’s commitment to exceptional service. Eco-conscious guests will love the sustainable features throughout, from efforts to reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint by sourcing rice straight from local farmers to a wildlife-friendly approach that is encouraged in all staff.

Why we love Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui

  • It’s in an idyllic private cove in a pretty nature reserve on the island’s north-eastern coast

  • There’s an appealing focus on sustainability, from rugs made of yarn from recycled clothes to preserving indigenous plants

  • The beautiful hillside villas and cottages serve up light-filled contemporary interiors, outdoor baths and amazing sea views

  • You can relax beside two stunning pools – one for adults only – on sun loungers on the beach and in the nature-centred spa

In the evening, dine under the stars at the beachside Fish Tales or feast on delicious Thai cuisine at RHOY RHOY! one of the island’s finest restaurants.

Fish Tales
Serving up a great choice of Thai, Chinese and Western dishes in a lively atmosphere during the day. Then at dusk, it transforms into a contemporary gourmet restaurant offering you an elegant fusion menu featuring fresh local seafood and fine meats. You can choose to dine in the open sala, on the canopied terrace, or directly under the stars on the deck.

RHOY RHOY!
This exceptional restaurant strives to serve authentic Thai cuisine from every region.

EVOL
A restaurant serving mouthwatering dishes that are focused on wellbeing; they are created using naturally sourced produce which is grown locally as much as possible, and even on the resort's own organic farm. The menu features a variety of plant based options.

Po-Lad Beach Bar
Serving Asian tapas, burgers and pizzas for lunch, this laid back beach bar is also a popular spot for evening cocktails.

Have personalised treatments in the privacy of the Prana Spa, hidden among the greenery. Soak away your stress with a floral-scented outdoor bath or try the ‘Samui Dream’ treatment, a Thai remedy combining coconut oil and local herbs to soothe and repair.

Head to Fisherman's Village, just a 15-minute taxi ride away. Here you will find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants and the popular night markets. For a bird's eye view of the Gulf of Thailand, it's worth the effort of hiking up Elephant Rock. For some island culture, visit the nearby 12-metre tall golden Buddha at Wat Phra Yai.

Due to its private setting, the Tongsai Bay Beach is one of Koh Samui's best. Windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling are just some of the watersports available at nearby beaches.

The resort was sensitively constructed and where possible trees causing an obstruction were relocated and water conservation initiatives include water saving taps and recycling waste water to water the gardens. Energy conservation is done through using energy saving light bulbs, electric buggies, some solar cells, re-using the hot water generated during air-conditioning and the installation of an ozone system in the laundry.

Sections of grounds have been left undisturbed for animal and plant conservation and organic waste is composted and used in the resort’s own gardens to produce organic herbs and vegetables for the kitchens. Chemical usage has been reduced by using biological pesticides, compost as fertiliser and biological detergents.

The use of plastic is actively discouraged and re-usable cloth bags made from recycled napkins are used in place of plastic bags. Re-usable ceramic bottles are used for toiletries and glass replaces plastic bottles.

The resort also supports local projects such as funding and advising a local school on their low-carbon practices, tree planting, litter clearing, beach cleaning and it supports an animal rescue centre and wildlife foundations.

The kids' club at Garrya offers a range of entertainment including arts and crafts, outdoor activities and mini yoga sessions.

Minimum stay: 5 nights 21 Dec-05 Jan.

Due to steep steps, this hotel is not recommended for those with walking difficulties.

Guests over 14 are welcome in the half-moon pool area.
