Angsana Corfu

An all-new property that puts contemporary design, wellness experience and epicurean adventures at the heart

This shiny new hotel is creating a stir in Corfu's luxury hotel scene.

Angsana Corfu is the brainchild of luxury hotel brand Banyan Tree. A contemporary spin on Greek Cubist architecture, the hotel is poised on a cliff edge, plunging 100ft into the sparkling sea below. The best point to soak up these views is the rooftop terrace bar, with its scattering of low-slung white sofas overlooking an infinity pool that disappears into the horizon. There are four excellent restaurants, specialising in everything from Greek favourites to Spanish tapas, but it’s not just a foodie destination: spa-goers will revel in the modern wellness centre, with its 50-plus treatments, indoor and outdoor pools and open-sided yoga deck, and families will find plenty to please too – from art workshops at the Ranger’s Club to explorations around this heritage-filled island.

Why we love Angsana Corfu

  • There’s a generous selection of bars and restaurants, including a panoramic rooftop bar and fine-dining spot Botrini’s, headed up by Michelin-star chef Ettore Botrini.

  • It’s modern with a sleek design, striking architecture and luxurious accommodation.

  • It’s great for families, with a kids’ club, playground and children’s pool, and the villas offer plenty of space for larger groups.

  • It sits in a majestic location right on the cliff, with views over Benitses Bay and the historic Achilleion Palace close by.

Angsana is one for globetrotting gourmands, with four restaurants on hand alongside various epicurean experiences – from a mountain picnic to a toes-in-the-sand dinner, illuminated by flickering torches. Outdoor dining venues opening times may be affected by weather conditions.

Ruen Romsai
The resort’s main restaurant, this light-flooded space offers lavish buffet breakfasts and a Mediterranean-inspired menu among stylish interiors – think pale wood, white furnishings and elegant bronze accents.

This trendy North Asian spot (open May to October) tastes of Japan, Korea and Taiwan are combined in exceptional dishes that are created with Corfu-sourced produce and served with a sparkling Mediterreanean backdrop. DJs create an Asian-inspired soundtract to complete that immersive atmosphere.

This palm-fringed haunt (open April to November) serves up Greek cuisine with plenty of fresh fish and the finest cuts. Island ingredients are sourced for a taste of Corfu – think rich olive oil, crusty breads, cheeses and yoghurts.

Juice Bar
Refresh with a pressed juice or smoothies from this healthy spot, set in the spa next to the indoor pool.

Emerald Beach Bar
Located down by the sea and open from 15 May to the end of October, this is a toes-in-the-sand bar for cocktails and light dishes – expect fresh seafood and local plates.

Vertigo Sky Bar
Head to this lofty rooftop terrace – the highest of its kind in Corfu – to enjoy aromatic tapas and crafted cocktails with panoramic views over the surrounding coast, plus regular live music performances.

Sunrise Pool Bar
Offering mesmerising views over the Ionian, this casual bar serves cocktails, smoothies and snacks beside the infinity pool. Open April to 10 November.

A Lounge
Indulge in afternoon tea, specialty coffees and homemade desserts at this contemporary-design spot, surrounded by a huge wooden honeycomb.

Starboard Lounge
Sip a sundowner with a seaview at Starboard, where a resident DJ takes to the decks.

V Lounge
Exclusive to villa guests, this sleek lounge serves gourmet food, spirits, coffees and wines throughout the day.

The standout has to be Botrini’s, a fine-dining restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Ettore Botrini, who reimagines Mediterranean classics with an innovative twist.

The award-winning Angsana Spa is something of a sanctuary, with 11 treatment rooms, two rainmist rooms, a yoga terrace and indoor pool. Try the signature Angsana Massage or Rainmist Classic, which combines a rainmist shower with a calming moisturising body treatment. There’s a modern gym overlooking the indoor pool and ocean beyond, with several classes offered, from cross training and aqua fitness to Pilates and HIIT.

The resort puts the emphasis on local exploration, with a concierge on hand to arrange Jeep safaris, sailing trips, golf and more. Outdoor activities such as boating, cycling and nature walks are also available.

Angsana’s sustainability programme focuses on resource conservation, greening communities, guest engagement and nurturing young people by providing education and life skills.

The resort recycles and is aiming to eliminate the use of plastic in the property. Beach clean-ups increase guests’ environmental awareness. Many of the villas have green roofs planted with herbs and spices, used by chefs in the restaurants and olive trees have been planted around the property. Angsana Corfu offers eco-friendly craft activities for children. Following wildfires that destroyed 12% of Greece’s forests, many residents lost their homes and Angsana Corfu provided food, medical supplies and clothing.
