Nayara Springs

Hot-spring fed pool villas and volcano views

At the base of the iconic Arenal volcano sits a Relais & Chateaux lodge that’s surrounded by a wildlife-rich rainforest.

Nayara Springs is a perennial award winner and features on copious ‘world’s best hotels’ lists and it’s not hard to see why. It’s location – surrounded by tropical forests within a stone’s throw of Costa Rica’s most famous natural landmark – set it in good stead, but it’s the exceptional dining, enriching experiences and zen villas, each with their own spring-heated pool, that elevate it to the next level. Your stay here can be a balance of full-on and fun activities (zip-lining, hanging bridge hikes and night walks are a few of our must tries) and restful downtime; morning yoga is a fab way to start the day, and a signature treatment in the open-air spa pavilions is almost obligatory in our eyes.

Why we love Nayara Springs

  • Meet the team of in-house naturalists who will guide you on unforgettable adventures

  • The 35 villas each have a hot-spring fed plunge pool and a romantic four-poster bed

  • There’s a real focus on wellness at the resort with spa treatments carried out in open-air, jungle pavilions

  • You’ll have stunning views of the iconic Arenal Volcano from various locations around the lodge

Relais & Chateaux dining always means flavour-rich and destination-influenced cuisine. There’s a fine-dining venue, Amor Loco, with its eclectically-plush décor, avant garde dishes (try the zucchini blossoms which are stuffed with crab and chicken or quinoa croquettes), and dinner time live music.

Tastes of our own continent can be satisfied at the Italian restaurant, Mis Amores, while romantic celebrations should be marked with a private dinner at Besame Mucho. A duo of bars and a coffee shop with home roasted beans complete the complement of food and beverage offerings.

Amor Loco
Flavoursome culinary offerings come with a side of live music at Amor Loco, the resort’s signature restaurant. Innovative dishes are served here at lunch and dinner.

Mis Amores
The light-filled and airy venue is the hotel’s main restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Days can begin with lemon zest pancakes, an omelette served your way, or a traditionally Costa Rican gallo pinto. At lunch, the menu has more of a Mediterranean focus, with charcuterie boards to share, classic pizzas and paninis and burgers, while for dinner you can go for carpaccios, pasta or risotto dishes or seafood specialities (or more pizza).

Besame Mucho This private dining space is an ideal spot for romantic candlelit dinners – honeymoons, anniversaries or even proposals could all be celebrated with some us time surrounded by the jungle.

What's included

Breakfast at Mis Amores.

We can’t think of many better places to indulge yourself with a spa treatment (or two). The open-sided pavilions are hidden away in the forest so you’ll struggle not to feel completely at one with nature. Unique therapies include volcanic mud massages and chocolate or coffee scrubs. And while some spas use piped music, the soundtrack here is the rustling of the trees and the calls of jungle birds… absolute bliss.

There are instructor-led yoga sessions each morning held on an open-air pavilion; you just need to make reservations at least 24 hours before your visit.
