Knight Inlet Lodge, northwest of the city of Vancouver, is not accessible by road, so the journey to this wildlife adventure location is all part of the experience.

The wonderful Knight Inlet Lodge is one of British Columbia's most iconic wildlife destinations. Situated in the secluded Glendale Cove at the heart of the unspoilt Great Bear Rainforest, this floating lodge is in prime grizzly- and whale-watching territory. The rooms and public areas are simple in design yet comfortable - it's all about letting the breathtaking surroundings do the talking. There's a spacious dining room where you sit down for meals with your fellow guests and a couple of outside deck areas where you can sit and take in your surroundings.

2, 3, 4, 5 and 6- night itineraries; daily departures from late May to mid-October
Your first night is spent in the town of Campbell River on the east coast of Vancouver Island. You can arrive in town at any time, but your room should be ready from 3pm. The rest of the afternoon and evening will be free to explore on your own. The following morning, you'll transfer to the floatplane base and depart on a 25-minute flight to the mouth of the Glendale River, home of the Knight Inlet Lodge.

In the afternoon, there will be two 2-hour tours: a bear-viewing trip (by boat in spring and summer and on a viewing platform from late August to October) accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, and a Knight Inlet sightseeing cruise. In the evening, relax in the lounge while watching an interpretive presentation by one of the guides.

Guests staying at the lodge for three nights can enjoy extra bear-watching excursions, a forest hike through the Kwalate River Valley and other wildlife-viewing trips. If you chose a four, five or six night package, you'll do all the above, head out on a full-day boat trip to Johnston Strait where you might spot various marine animals, and travel to Thompson and Bond Sounds for bear and wildlife viewing.

On your last day, take the opportunity to go on a final bear viewing boat excursion before your return floatplane flight (approx. 10am) to Campbell River.
