An Art Deco mansion with individually styled rooms, rooftop dining, and a traditional hammam in central Casablanca.
From the street, Le Doge looks more like a private home than a city hotel. Inside, a sweeping, red-carpeted staircase curves beneath stained glass, while fabric-lined walls, vintage furniture, and plenty of colour bring the 1930s into the present. Minimalism wasn’t invited.
Le Doge’s origin story sounds made for the cinema, although the hotel itself calls it a legend. An Italian entrepreneur is said to have given the mansion to his wife, whom he met in Morocco. The house passed through the family and remained a private residence until 2009, when it opened as a boutique hotel. Today, it’s part of Relais & Châteaux.
Each of its 16 rooms and suites is inspired by a different artist or cultural figure from the Art Deco era. Names range from Coco Chanel and Josephine Baker to Man Ray and Ernest Hemingway. The two largest suites are dedicated to Hemingway and Jean Cocteau, and colours, fabrics, and furniture change from one room to the next.
Le Jasmine serves Moroccan food beneath antique silver chandeliers. Take the lift to the fifth floor and the mood changes, with Mediterranean plates, drinks, and Casablanca rooftops at Le Doge Café. The small spa handles post-sightseeing recovery with a hammam and massages. Pool days belong elsewhere. Le Doge is about character, food, and exploring the city from a central address.
Why we love Hotel & Spa Le Doge
-
Every room has its own identity, inspired by a different figure from the Art Deco era. Tell us whose style catches your eye and we can check what’s available.
-
The staircase, stained glass, fabric-lined walls, and vintage furniture carry the Art Deco story beyond the bedrooms. The building is one of the hotel’s main attractions.
-
The fifth-floor rooftop brings Mediterranean cooking with a Catalan influence, drinks, and views across Casablanca’s Art Deco district. It’s covered and heated during the winter months.
-
The Abderrahman Slaoui Foundation Museum is about a minute’s walk away, with Arab League Park within around 10 minutes on foot. Hassan II Mosque is roughly 2 miles from the hotel.
Rooms
Le Doge’s 16 rooms and suites come in 4 categories, from 30m² Standard Rooms to 55m² Suites. Each takes its inspiration from a different Art Deco-era figure, so colours, fabrics, furniture, and decorative details change from room to room.
Facilities
Food follows the hotel’s small-scale approach: traditional Moroccan cooking in an intimate dining room and a more relaxed Mediterranean menu with Catalan influences on the rooftop. Expect hand-painted tableware and antique chandeliers downstairs, then city views upstairs.
Le Jasmine Chef
Fatima serves traditional Moroccan cooking among wood-panelled walls, hand-painted tableware, stained glass, and antique silver chandeliers. There are only seven tables, so book ahead.
Le Doge Café
The fifth-floor rooftop restaurant serves Mediterranean cooking with Catalan influences and views across Casablanca’s Art Deco district. It’s covered and heated in winter (December to February).

The spa* is small and focused, with a traditional hammam using natural products and time-honoured techniques. Massages range from relaxing to more invigorating. Book in advance, as treatment space is limited.
Junior Suites and Suites accommodate up to three guests and a baby under two. There isn’t a pool, children’s club, or wider programme of family facilities. Le Doge is a better fit for couples and for families who want an individual city base rather than a facilities-led hotel.
