Impeccable service . Social distanced seating at all times . Good choices at the restaurants. The facilities at the health centre were good using pre booked sessions . The spa facilities were excellent
Finally managed to get a week here after losing 3 holidays this year due to Covid. Expected 5 star at the Vila Vita which it clearly is not. Three stars are one each for housekeeping (the lady who cleaned our room was lovely and left it immaculate - she was the only member of staff apart from Sam on the bar terrace that we tipped), the grounds and the room all of which were excellent. Checked in early and were shown to the terrace bar for complimentary drink while room being prepared. Another couple were receiving a full information briefing from a member of staff - we got nothing. OK there is an iPad in the room for info but this takes an age to go through and not what you want to do after getting up at 4am travelling and getting into room at 1pm. After unpacking found the safe and telephone to reception not working - safe sorted but phone was not. No complimentary newspapers and no pad/pen in room. Adults only pool at Clubhouse was small and shallow with sunbeds in it so could not have a good swim and double mattress sunbeds with no headrests ridiculous likewise the ones that had them were in the shade. Blaring awful cheap pop music played all day so not relaxing at all. Pool service was poor and cocktails very weak. Breakfast was chaotic with service in the wrong order - pastries sometimes offered first, sometimes last and hot choice delivered while still eating continental. Bacon, yoghurts, cava and cereals were not on menu but we found out were available mid stay by seeing others eating - also other review correct - they cannot cook an egg especially poached and omelettes were flat and dry. We tried six different restaurants - two very good, one OK and three poor - separate reviews for each. Regarding the lack of information - we had booked lunch at Praia Dourada and decided to spend the day at the beach club after enquiring at reception and being told this was complimentary. On arrival at beach club at 11am (shuttle from hotel was very good and driver very entertaining) we selected a double sunbed whereupon a member of staff rushed over and told us we could not have it as it was reserved (no sign) so moved to another and he asked for 75 euros for the day!! We told him we were residents and had lunch booked but he insisted it was 75 euros so we moved to other uncomfortable public beds nearby. At lunch we complained to the waiter and he told us the club beds were free if you spent 75 euros on food/drink - we spent over 100 Euros but all beds had gone! This info is NOT on the beach club info on the iPad in the room either. In general drinks, wine and food were extortionately overpriced. I was comparing this to one of our regular hotels Seaside Grand Hotel Residence in Maspalomas which is 100% 5 star, around the same price per night BUT includes a superb five course dinner by Michelin chef each night, amazing breakfast, great cocktails, reasonable wine list, free newspaper each day, free water by pool/chilled fruit, hot drink/juice trolley by pool from early morning for pre-breakfast swim, L-Occitane products in bathrooms, comfortable sunbeds, complimentary afternoon tea etc plus classy relaxing live music each evening from 8 to 10pm. I don't mind spending a lot of money on holidays/food/wine etc but I expect to get what I pay for - we go to the Maspalomas twice a year and same hotel in Dubai every year and were hoping to find another excellent venue for our regular 4th holiday - it will not be the Vila Vita!!
Overprized but German quality for relaxation
As a child I’ve visited Vila Vita Parc a couple of times with my parents. Me and my brother had a blast. Now +/- 20 years later it was time to visite the resort again. This time with my wife. Arrival and check-in was perfect. Rooms were updated. They are spacious. Bathroom is nice (no amenities kit only shower gel and shampoo). The resort surroundings are still very nice. Unfortunately the fact that this resort is owned by a German investment firm gives the entourage a strange mix. You get people who are staying at the resort for their well deserved holidays but on the other hand you also find groups of people who are their for work doing team building exercises. We ate in almost every restaurant at the resort and than comes the thing.... the food is so overprized... Small starters as prawns in garlic EUR 18.00, one ice scoop EUR 5.00 and mains ranging between EUR 40 (and than you’ll probably have two pizzas up to EUR 200). And what I mean by overprized when you decide to visit a resort where the standard rooms start with EUR 450 you may expect some higher prices. But we were very amazed by the pricing and also in relation to the quality and options on the menus. For example the Whale restaurant is also the go to spot for pool lunches. In the evening you receive the same menu card as for lunch. And so your options fade away if you also ate lunch there that same day. The staff is very friendly but on busy hours they work chaotic. They forget orders, tables and even your check. It sometimes is a nerve test for guests. But if you confront them about this they are very friendly. Hopefully they also do something with it. So if you like to relax for a week you need to visit this resort!! But bring your credit card and a lot of time along with you because the food pricing is hectic.
Vila Vita is one of our favourite places in the Algarve. It is just perfect, from the staff which is adorable, the room, the incredible breakfast, the gardens, pools which are so well taken care of...in other words, we love it. Maybe a little disappointment with the restaurants
What a joy to stay at Vila Vita. The facilities are certainly first class and the team offer very good 5 star service. We really enjoyed the range of restaurants all of which offer excellent quality food and service. Breakfast in the sea view restaurant was perfect. The beach is picture perfect with a friendly team to provide towels. Beds were always available and although some people felt the need to reserve beds early we didn’t bother. House keeping is very good, we found our room to be very clean. Plenty of hand sanitizer available and restaurant tables well spaced for those concerned about Covid. Bar staff are fun and friendly and the live music of a very good standard. Drinks are expensive but they are made with love. Our only complaint is there are no water fountains. You either buy expensive bottled water all day or bring a beaker and drink tap water. Ladies should be aware that most of the paths on the resort are cobbled and high hills can be a challenge! However staff will pick you up in a golf buggy and drive you to a restaurant in the evening. We look forward to returning again.
