Its bottle-green exterior gives little away but inside, this hotel brings an element of splendour to Dubai. Inspired by its Indian roots as part of the award-winning Taj Hotels, guests can expect lavish décor and impressively personalised service. It has the feel of an intimate, boutique hotel with the smooth efficiency of an established brand. Its location is a big draw too – it’s just five minutes from Downtown Dubai and has rare top-to-bottom views of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Both the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall are reachable by a 20-minute walk, or guests can make use of the hotel’s complimentary shuttle. There’s attention to detail throughout, whether it’s staff anticipating your next drink before you do or the spiciness of a dish cooked exactly to your liking. This new resort combines modern luxury with an introduction to wellness on Dubai’s exclusive Palm Jumeirah Island. The first of its kind in Dubai, this is a relaxed spa retreat where you can enjoy scenic views of Dubai’s sea and city from your room and reach the main attractions within 25 minutes – all while reaping the benefits of a personalised holistic programme. Just opened in 2017, the resort is pristine. Rooms are of sleek Dubai standards and have minibars with healthy snacks and Wi-Fi so you can keep in contact with home while you’re enjoying your holistic getaway. The laid-back approach to wellness here means it’s a great place to bring the children along. It’s great to know that every plate of food here is sugar-free too – instead, the chefs use date powder and honey to add sweetness and in place of alcohol there are signature mocktails and a resident juice mixologist. There’s also a nutrition clinic created by the UK’s leading nutritionist, Dr Marilyn Glenville, if you’re in need of tips to help you continue the healthy eating habits at home. The resort has group classes you might find in a cool city gym as well as watersports from its sandy beach. Dance yourself fit, work up a sweat in the water on aqua bikes or take a more fun approach to working out by trying out stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing and waterskiing. Life coaches use NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) to assist with weight-loss and stress by reforming the way you think – it could even help you quit smoking. JA Lake View Hotel is the latest hotel opening creating a stir in Dubai. This sleek beach hangout is the youngest sibling of JA Palm Tree Court and JA Beach Hotel – part of Dubai's largest experience resort that is JA The Resort, Jebel Ali Beach. The new hotel adds three new swimming pools, a trio of restaurants and a few bars to the resort’s already vast offering. The W-shaped building is cleverly designed to create two separate areas and experiences – family-friendly and adults-only – with a cluster of restaurants and bars conveniently placed in the middle. There are great views over the resort – best taken in from the rooftop bar. Rooms are cool and calming, and we recommend plumping for a Suite to take advantage of a wraparound balcony and a spot at the tip of the W – perfect for families after a bit of space. If you manage to work your way through the resort’s labyrinth of pools and huge list of activities – like kayaking, water-skiing, horseriding and fishing – you’re a 15-minute drive from the Dubai Parks & Resorts and 20 minutes from Dubai Marina (the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the malls). All of the resort’s restaurants and bars are up for grabs too, meaning you can pretty much eat at a different spot every day – a great dining destination for all-inclusive holidays.
Stunning views of the gleaming creek and iconic skyline are the order of the day at Hilton Dubai Creek. The best vistas unfurl before you at the rooftop bar – the perfect spot to watch the sun sink behind the Arabian Sea, cocktail in hand. Floor-to-ceiling windows in rooms and suites make the most of the city and creek views; plump for a Panoramic Suite to take in the skyline in all its glittering glory. It’s all about cool urban living here: wake in time for a legendary Dubai brunch at the chic Table 9, before hotfooting it to the city’s mega-malls to pick up the latest threads. Seek respite from the midday sun with a shady barbecued lunch and refreshing rooftop swim at the hotel’s Edge Pool & Bar, before taking the complimentary shuttle to (sister hotel) Hilton Dubai Jumeirah private beach to bask in the afternoon sun. For a slice of culture wander through the labyrinthine alleyways of the Gold Souk or take a boat trip to the historic Grand Mosque, where you’ll find the city’s tallest minaret. Later, dine on modern classics at Glasshouse Brasserie back at the hotel before lingering over a nightcap at Issimo Bar.
In a city of world-class hotels, this hotel manages to stand apart from the crowd thanks to Oberoi’s incredibly high standards. It has everything a Dubai hotel should have – amazing food, super-modern interiors and knockout views – plus service that’s so noticeably good, guests often make a point to namedrop members of staff in their praise. The hotel feels grown up with clean, design-first décor and sophisticated restaurants, though Oberoi’s extraordinary team are just as happy to shower kids with special attention, too. Rooms and suites are all designed generously with nicely sized living spaces if you like downtime indoors. They’re all finished off with art that complement the modern interiors and huge, floor-to-ceiling windows. You’ll get views over the hotel pool, Dubai’s cityscape or – if you’re staying in a Premier Room and Suite – you’ll get bedroom views of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Families are set up nicely with interconnecting rooms and nothing is too much to ask for thanks to Oberoi’s 24-hour butler service. Even the breakfast spread taps into your inner child with a huge range of pastries to choose from, plus an à la carte menu that has Arabic dishes like shakshuka and Indian specialities in homage to the Oberoi brand’s origins as well as the Western classics. Ananta is one of the best Indian restaurants in Dubai and there’s also dedicated Italian and Latin American restaurants to try on top of the Arabic and international selection at the main restaurant.
