Already planning my return!
We stayed for two nights in early September, with Stegga as our guide, as the first of 4 safari camps. It was a great start to a fabulous vacation. Our room overlooked a watering hole, offering game viewing between game drives (which themselves were awesome!), and the room itself was large and comfortable. The staff was welcoming, and also incredibly talented: we loved the singing and dancing that welcomed us on arrival, and also entertained us in the evenings. And food? I have my work cut out for me losing the extra pounds I gained because I couldn't say no to all that goodness. We are already talking of returning in May/June 2021, because we'd like to experience a different season.
Great wildlife and Star gazing
24th July for 2 nights. Met at the airstrip by Bones who will be our guide for the next 2 nights. Short transfer to our lodge and on route saw 2 Ostriches. On arrival we were checked in near the pool side which has great views overlooking the river bed. All accommodation has beautiful views overlooking the river and watering hole. The accommodation was to an excellent standard. All house staff very friendly and the rooms looked lovely. The same day laundry service was also very good to use. After lunch we enjoyed relaxing on our decking watching the herds of Zebras and elephants coming down the banks to drink. Also on the banks you can see storks, crocodile and monitor lizard along with some local cattle. Bones is very friendly, cheerful and passionate about all the wildlife. He was also very knowledgeable and gave us very interesting facts. We again saw large herds of Zebras and elephants and got great pictures. We also saw giraffes, wildebeests, kudu and impala. All meals were excellent and great choice. My wife had a chat with the friendly chef after we had a lovely traditional starter and the kind chef gave us the recipe. One night after dinner Bones did an astronomy talk around the Bush TV ‘Camp Fire’. The stars in Botswana were fantastic and very clear. Bones used a laser pointer to point out the consolations which was very fascinating and he know all the facts about the planets and stars that could be seen. He showed us the consolation of the Scorpion, it was fantastic to see. On our trip in Botswana we used Desert & Delta throughout. Each camp we stayed at were all completely different and very unique. But they all had great service, made you feel welcome and made each and everyone feel special and the itinerary ran very similar. Thank you to Leroo la Tau staff for the lovely post card that we received on our return home.
We found the heart of Africa in the people of LLT :-)
Our family stayed here for 3 nights in July 2019. It was a wonderful experience and we fell in love with the staff and management of this lodge. It is evident that the desert and delta franchise (of which this is one of the gems) works exceptionally hard to source and train exceptional people to realize their dream of providing the BEST safari lodge experience for their guests. We can only hope other travelers add this lodge to their itinerary as it really is a special experience
wonderful team and beautiful setting
Thank you to Kepeo and the team for a great welcome and lovely stay. With water levels so low at the moment it was really special to stay at a lodge overlooking the Boteti river and to watch crocodiles fighting for territory! The rooms were immaculate with lots of attention to detail and the food was really delicious. All the guests enjoyed the choir performance before dinner too. It was exciting to have lion prints pointed out to us in camp between the rooms from the night before! We appreciated the provision of wifi in the rooms and not in common guest areas - a very good idea as these days every traveller expects to be able to catch up on communications.
Leroo La Tau revisited
We were last here in 2017 and the condition of the camp is much the same. Unfortunately, a couple of dry seasons have taken its toll on the Boteti River, resulting in the river bed becoming a series of waterholes. A positive impact of this has been the influx of larger numbers of zebra and wildebeest into the river bed. We were delighted Ollie was our guide. Amongst our activities was a trip to the Pans made memorable at lunch time by a close encounter with an elephant. Ollie is a very experienced guide and handled the situation most expertly. On this trip we also sighted Oryx and Springbok. We were looked after very well in Leroo La Tau.
