This was our fourth trip to Africa and our second to Botswana. Muchenje is a super up-to-date camp, but has been designed to give it a feel of an earlier time. We felt bad that we were practically the only guests some nights because this camp is definitely ready to operate at full steam. All the staff were extremely well trained, incredibly nice and fun to talk with. The co-managers Kiddy & Toff are old African hands and terrific dinner companions. The food was excellent. And a special acknowledgement to our fantastic guide, Ali. He could stare at the ground and report that “two lions were here 20 minutes ago, an adult and a cub and they’re heading west.” I would at the same area and just see dust. We came upon a herd of 50+ elephant including many babies; and 2 different lion prides. Every day there was excellent. Our room/lodge had a panoramic view of the valley below. And, a first for us, it also had air conditioning (which also served as a heat pump that was helpful on cold nights.)
Superb- Muchenje Safari Lodge
Muchenje Safari Lodge is beautiful, breathtaking, out of this world. The reception and hospitality is excellent. The staff is warm and welcoming. It was my first time to visit Muchenje in the festive of December 2020. I booked 4 full nights- 20th to 24th December 2020. For the first 3 nights, I was the only guest in the lodge and the service i got was awesome. Kiddy, Toff and Kago were great. My guide Ali Malinga is a gem, he knows his stuff and is excellent. He made my stay remarkable. The sightings and boat cruise were unbeatable. Visit to Muchenje Village and Muchenje Campsite was great. My chef Florence and Waiter Kgosi were exceptional. The food was out of this world. You guys are superstars. I also met other guides Tips and Lips, they were also welcoming and warm. My stay in Muchenje Safari Lodge was great. Time permitting, I will definitely do a repeat visit.
Fantastic lodge in Chobe
The lodge is very well situated near the park entry. Rooms are very nice and cosy, the team especially helpful and sympathetic. The safari was a bit disappointed because we did not find big male lion but you are in Chobe and lot of animals are here, large herd of buffalos, giraffes, impalas of course.saw sable antelope ,many of them not talking about elephants. Food was too pretentious and even wine from south Africa were not so good, but it is Chobe and you will love the place. Special mention for the bath room
Safari R & R
I spent 4 nights at the lodge at the conclusion of my mobile safari. The chalets are attractive and contain all of the amenities you'd expect from a 5-star accommodation with the addition of the necessities of required of an African stay. The views from my deck of the animals grazing at the river were amazing (not to mention the occasional animals wandering through the lodge grounds of their own accord). The buffet-style meals were delicious and plentiful. With its location just outside Chobe National Park, options for animal viewing were plentiful, and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable, as was the rest of the staff, allowing me to be as adventurous or laid back as I desired. Most impressive, is the hands-on, attentive style of the managers. They are always on scene and proactively willing & able to assist you in any way they can. It is truly a joy to stay there and I would recommend it highly.
Struck gold here
My wife and I had an amazing time here - great guides, great game and great guests. We were lucky with the weather and had gorgeous days and sunsets. The owners were in residence too this week and we discovered some past history in common. The highlights were many - a really funny dinner party; the river trip and seeing everything; the lions chasing the leopard up the tree (and it escaping somehow); the staff singing...Thank you Toff and Kiddy for looking after us on our anniversary.
