Fall asleep to the calls of the wild beneath a sky full of twinkling stars…
At Loisaba Star Beds, you get the unique opportunity to sleep under the African stars. In Samburu, Loisaba is actually named after the stars – Loi means Star and Saba means Seven, like the Seven Sisters. When you lie back in your four-poster bed, you’re looking directly up at this constellation. You’ll be hosted by the local Samburu people, whose culture is based around astrology. As a nomadic tribe, they traditionally used the stars to navigate, predict weather patterns and season changes.
Star Beds is a rustic experience, like glamping, with these beautiful beds on wheels that get rolled out onto a wooden platform at night. You’re right opposite a big dam which attracts a lot of nocturnal wildlife, so you can fall asleep to the calls of the wild and the incredible stars above you. There’s also a lounge area with a roaring fire, it’s very much like stepping back into the safari era of old, it’s an intimate, romantic experience that guests love.
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Becky, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife in the Mara, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot for your sundowner.
