Enchanting property, superb service
Everything about the Oberoi is excellent-- the grounds are immaculate, creating an enchanting tropical oasis. The service is exceptional, very attentive without being over-bearing. Your privacy is respected, but the service never stops. While the grounds are quite large, the number of units is relatively small-- so you never feel crowded. The property has direct beach access as well as beautiful pools and facilities. The room was super nice, and very well equipped. Special touches abound. It was really nice to have regular service in the room after staying at several luxury hotels in the US recently which appear to have dispensed with that essential amenity. On the Rocks is a restaurant by water's edge, and deserves special mention as a romantic space with really good food and attentive service -- the only annoyance is that everything requires 24 to 48 hour advance reservation, which tempers last minute whims and spontaneity.
Amazing 5 star hotel with unbeatable service
Our two week stay at the Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius came on the tail of a two year holiday hiatus due to covid, and what a fantastic place to rediscover travel and hospitality. The Oberoi is, as most other reviewers say- beautiful, tranquil, and luxurious. But what stands out the most is the service, to which I will come onto shortly. We stayed in a pool villa, and spent a significant proportion of our two weeks there. The pool was gloriously warm, surrounded by a well-tended garden and visited by local birds. The villa was large, decorated with elegant taste, and with a dressing room and large bathroom at our disposal, including a sunken bath big enough for two. The beaches are lovely- not the best in the local area, but you get drinks/ snacks brought to your sun beds when you order, and the boat house offers lots of different water sports. We chose the boat trip to swim/ snorkel with sea turtles (this came at an extra cost), which I highly recommend. The swimming pools are fantastic, especially the main one overlooking the On the Rocks restaurant. The other adult only pool is lovely, but we didn't spent any time there unfortunately. (Something to go back for, though!!) Food: breakfast included a large selection of continental buffet foods and fruits, followed by cooked-to-order hot food, with the menus changing twice a week. We were spoilt for choice, but I particularly enjoyed the Turkish eggs and the Indian and Mauritian choices. We didn't always have lunch, as breakfast was so filling, but on the days we did we went to 'On the Rocks', and enjoyed salads and other light lunches, washed down with wine or local beer. The fresh tuna was a favourite of mine. We were lucky enough to try all the dinner options at the resort, including the Herb Trail, the Gunpowder room, and main restaurant and On the Rocks. There is no such thing as a bad meal at this resort and I would recommend all four dining options, but the Herb trail was a particular highlight for us, particularly one of the courses, a fishtail soup. Which brings me onto the service... We loved the fishtail soup so much that we mentioned it the next time we saw Mevin, who waited on us (and just two others) at the Herb trail. Mevin asked us if we would like the soup to be cooked for us again on another evening, going off piste from the main restaurant menu. We were delighted with this offer and indeed enjoyed the same soup cooked especially for us a couple of nights later. Mevin served us several times throughout our holiday, including at On the Rocks, and I have to give special mention to his amazing dedication to ensuring we were enjoying; he was a star and he really made our holiday. Other members of staff we particularly would like to mention for stand out service were: Pranaw, at the bar for making us many chilli ginger mojitos (my favourite) with a smile and good conversation; Singh Gusham for his amazing cookery; Maya and Hancy at the Spa- it was truly relaxing; Than, for also going out of his way to liaise with the chefs to create a bespoke dinner for us one evening (an excellent chicken Biryani); to Amanda, for always checking in with us when she saw us, and ensuring we were enjoying; and Natascha, the duty manager who chased the taxi who was late for our airport transfer on our last day, and had sorted out a back up plan just as the taxi turned up. We do recognise however that all the staff at the hotel work incredibly hard, including those who are visible in the bars and restaurants, and those working more behind the scenes, such as in housekeeping, pool/ gardening, laundry, and in the kitchens. They seamlessly kept the place clean, tidy and operational, to guest satisfaction. We were very happy with the hotel's policy of guests leaving a collective tip at the end of the holiday, rather than individual tips throughout, as this means everyone gets recognised. We highly recommend the Oberoi. We did half board and felt thoroughly spoilt. It is not cheap, but I think because it doesn't do 'all inclusive' like many of the other resorts around the island, it has a more sophisticated and tranquil feel. We would love to return at some point in the future.
It’s impossible to share enough superlatives about Oberoi Beach Resort Mauritius. It really is superb, so much so that my husband and I have holidayed here on six occasions and are due to return later this year. Absolutely everything is ‘off the scale’ such as the stunningly landscaped and tranquil property spread across extensive beachfront grounds, the beautiful and immaculate rooms / villas with every amenity you could wish for, and the delicious and superbly presented food and beverage experience. The ultimate is Dhiren and his wonderful team of the most lovely, smiley, friendly people for whom the only goal is to make you happy. We’ve travelled extensively to luxury hotels around the world and can truly say that Oberoi Beach Resort Mauritius is our absolute favourite and our ‘happy place’. The highlight of our calendar is our annual trip here and hence we can’t recommend it highly enough. Don’t think twice - just book it - you’ll have a wonderful time in a stunning beachfront paradise.
Oberoi Mauritius! Great views, great service, and great amenities. Stargazing, sculpture, yoga, water sports.
Oberoi beach resort Mauritius! You have won my heart and made me your guest for life. Right from the pick up at the airport to our room, our view, our food, the taxi to see the sights - everything has been a delightful experience. You gave me a glimpse into the Oberoi culture, you outdid yourselves with your impeccable customer service. You showed me that the Oberoi resort and Mauritian culture are one and the same - warm, affectionate and very welcoming. Any establishment that has the capability to retain it’s employees for 20 plus years speaks for itself. Right from the time we entered the hotel premises. We received a grand welcome that we will always remember. Bhavna was our front office assistant that brought us to our room. Raj and Pritam brought our bags to the room and laid them neatly. Raj drove us in the BMW to take in the south trip sights. Mr Ghanshyam- the main chef at ‘The Rock’ Personally came out to talk to us and to give vegetarian options to my mom who never once felt like she had to compromise on the dishes. Nadir, Pritam and Darrel ferried us back and forth to the main restaurant for breakfast and dinner since my mom couldn’t walk the short distance due to a disability. They were always smiling and courteous and went the extra length to make her comfortable. The F&B manager- Nishal went above and beyond, personally looking into every detail . He was assisted by Mevin our server with a great sense of humor and great attitude. Aum and Omar were very sweet too. Hansy and Preety at the spa were amazing with their massage. Ashwinta and Razia were great housekeepers taking in every instruction and making our room look great every day. Natacha and Amanda at the reception were awesome to talk to and last but not the least - Raj. He is a veteran at this hotel and a great asset. You can tell how proud he is to represent Oberoi and how well he looks after every guest. We had a great conversation with him when he took us on the south trip in the hotel BMW. Every person we spoke to at the hotel had the same consistent warmth and affection. This also includes the GM of the hotel Mr Dhiraj Pereira! Very down to earth and nice. Together, they all made you feel like you were a part of their family. All in all- The experiences and the facilities this resort gives are second to none. We are coming back soon!!
Oh Boy Oberoi
Well, where to start. The whole resort is utterly fantastic with space in abundance. We were greeted and whisked off to our villa to check in, no messing about at all. We were treated to a gorgeous villa with its own garden and spectacular views across the ocean. First afternoon we dined 'in villa' and the service and food were perfect. That leads me on to the service, it is exemplary in every respect. Nothing, but nothing, is too much trouble but no one is intrusive in any way. The pools are lovely, we went to the adult one which is more secluded but still lovely and spacious. Ultra clean as well, in fact the whole place is! The food is awesome, from light snacks to full on meals, lots of variety even the snacks in the bar were great. I'm pretty well travelled and have stayed in a lot of five, even seven star hotels but this place really takes some beating. Space is a luxury and this has it in square metres! In summary it's an utterly gorgeous resort and one to judge others by. I really can't wait to go back! Special mention to the lovely Raj who is the resorts chauffeur waiting to whisk you off in his 7 series, nice chap indeed. Also Nisin and Melvin at On The Rocks where we dined nearly every day at lunchtime with the spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. First Class guys, First Class!
