Sitting between the mountain of Le Morne and a white-sand beach, this breathtaking resort has one of the best settings on the island.
At some resorts it’s all about the setting, while at others the focus is on the fantastic facilities, great restaurants and a long list of activities. This exclusive retreat excels on both these counts: it has world-class restaurants, a luxe laid-back vibe and all the modern amenities you could wish for, all with the unrivalled backdrop of the most iconic natural landmark in Mauritius – Le Morne Mountain. And then add to that the renowned nothing’s-too-much-trouble LUX★ service and those unforgettable little surprises throughout your stay and you may just have found paradise.
The vibe here is contemporary chic where every moment is a potential Instagram. There are five pools including a large and centrally located infinity-edged pool, a golden stretch of sand between the huge clear-as-glass lagoon and shade-giving palm trees, and the LUX★ ME Spa. This is a sanctuary in the shadow of Le Morne where signature massages, traditional Chinese medicinal treatments, yoga sessions and reviving facials are on offer. The rooms and suites here are as beautiful as the public spaces with breezy outdoor spaces, dark wood accents and inviting king-size beds made up with crisp cotton sheets. A couple of our favourites are the Sunset Junior Suite for front-row seats to nature’s end-of-day show (the best view of sunset is down in this corner of the island) or a Prestige Junior Suite which has an outdoor rainfall shower.
LUX★ Le Morne is a foodie hotspot. There are three restaurants: the casual main dining venue The Kitchen, The Beach where Mediterranean-inspired dishes are served right by the golden sands, and the specialty Thai restaurant East. Where possible, the produce used throughout the resort is sourced fresh and as locally as possible; if you’re down by the beach at the right time you may catch the guest experience manager diving under the water for sea urchins, a local delicacy. Aside from eating, there are plenty of ways to discover what the island has to offer. You could try one of the photo workshops, try FloatFit part yoga part HIIT class workout, head out into Mauritius’s jungle-clad interior on a hiking adventure or join a mountain biking excursion along the south coast.
