Family Holday - small Kids (3rd Time at Long Beach)
We have been fortunate enough to travel to Mauritius many times and have stayed at a number of resorts around the island over the lasy 4 years. This was our 3rd family holiday at Long Beach with our 3 and 6 year old daughters. We chose to return for the loaction, facilities, activities, suitability to our kids and the general food and standard of the resort. We love the variety of restuarants, all the sports facilities, the swimming pools, the kids club and the architecture and design of the resort. The east coast has the prettiest whitest sand beaches, turquoise waters and while it can get a bit windy at certain times of year, the light breeze in December is a welcome relief. The deeper lagoon also offers day round watersports which are sometimes limited to high tide midday times in other parts of the island. Long Beach's main swimming pool is also very protected from the wind. We had high expectations to return to the resort we have grown to love. Sadly, we did not have the best start to our holiday, and initailly felt very dissapointed by the dropped standard of service at the pool, restuarants and beach, irritated by a very delayed checkin and lack of acknowledgement of our loyalty. However, I believe the measure of a hotel and it's managment is how they deal with problems, and it is important to focus on the extensive efforts that were made after we voiced our concerns. To their absolute credit the managment stepped up their game, became a visable presense on the beach, at the pools, in the restuarants and service all around was elevated to the appropriate level for a resort of this standard. Thank you to Long beach for what was another amazing holiday, and thank you for taking on our concerns with such class and excellence!! My tips and highlights would be: - Do a day on the Sun Beach, was the best day ever and so worth it!! - Weather permitting the 5am sunrise Kayak is a must - The kids club staff are INCREDIBLE, love their programs and whole facility - Dinner at Hasu is phenomenal - The new check in facilities are a welcome relief after a long flight. But be sure to pack your swimwear ad a change of clothes into your hand luggage so that you can change.
A journey of disaters with trial of change
It started dissapointing at lastet like that. Arriving in the eal morning at the hotel, we were told to hava n upgrade to a beach access room?? That's what I booked... We - my two kids and I - tried to sleep but the massive electro smog in the room, including matresses full of metal (I know this is common - but not helpful to sleep at all and even unhealthier). Kids were nervous all night long and I slept three hours. Next morning my young son cut his finger, while diving something shine in the pool. Glass from the broken floor, partly made of glass mosaic. The pool and many other part, haven't seen a renovation for many many years. Service in the Restaurants and Fodd are extremly poor. The chief cook at the copstick restaurant did everything to make it up. Cables of electricty are all over the sandy part of the garden, when I found one cut open, with open cable and the security guy standing next to it, I knew it is time to leave ... my kids are to much at risk. The management excused themselves for all matters, but an excuse is too late, they should care before... No care... no business I was told the management changed three years ago and they want to change the Hotel to a wellness place..... If that's what they call change... they will never change to wellness. The only thing which urgently needs to be changed, is all managment and in particular the GM. We left to another wonderful place, I tell you there are many very good one's in Mauritius. JUST STAY AWAY FROM LONG BEACH AT ALL
Disappointing treatment on arrival
This review is based purely on our treatment on arrival. We booked this hotel as part of our honeymoon and went on the basis of the good reviews. We were firstly asked for our passports and repeatedly asked for our voucher that we booked. 20 minutes later we were still waiting. We were then told where all the facilities were however, not once by the three people that we encountered were we told ' congratulations for being on your honeymoon' or 'thank you for choosing us for your honeymoon!' Once we arrived to the room there were no complementary items in the room or anything to wish us congratulations! Once I called to give feedback I was informed there was a celebrations team especially for honeymooners which we hadn't been informed of this. This is the last hotel booking for our visit to Mauritius which unfortunately has been our worst! Very disappointing service so far! Hopefully this improves
This is a top hotel. Bed sheets are very clean, plenty of towels. Rooms very tidy. Our requests were well attended. Shows and dancing floors magic. The employees are very courteous and professionals. Will certainly go there again.
From the 25 to 28 January, spent a memorable stay with the family there. The warm hospitality by the staff makes all the difference since arrival, during and until the end of our stay. The staff are non-intrusive and responsive. There was one who stood out in the name of Mithun during dinner time. He understood fast the needs of clients and goes the extra mile to exceed expectation. Well done. One other staff at the recreational facilities who was cheerful and humble enough to let the visitors win all the times and his name was Alex. LB has become like a second home. Until our next visit, continue to make people feel at ease when they come to LB to recharge.
