The most perfect place to go for honeymoon! A beautiful location with memories to treasure! The weather was hot by day, warm by night - a great time of the year to visit! The hotel and staff were top quality. We stayed in a water villa which was amazing, kept very clean and was of a high standard. The food was exceptional, a good variety of all types of food which was all beautifully presented and cooked to the highest standard. The beach was maintained and very clean, as well as the pool area. There was a variety of excursions and activities available including jet ski’s (amazing tour) and snorkelling. We also made use of the island photographer for a wedding shoot - he was great although not very well advertised which is a shame because the photos were beautiful! The staff were professional, polite, very welcoming and attentive and couldn’t do more for you! The most perfect honeymoon!
Best vacation of our lives
We celebrated our 20 year anniversary and stayed in one of the over-water suites and it felt like heaven on earth. Most beautiful property and the friendliest staff and hospitality. Due to covid, there were limits to the number of restaurants and bars but all the food was so good and we enjoyed drinks nightly at the sunset bar. We did several excursions and I would highly recommend the snorkeling with turtles. I've snorkeled in many places and this by far was the best experience seeing over 100 types of fish, sharks, and sea turtles. We also enjoyed a great couples massage at the spa and did a surfing lesson too. We will never forget our amazing experience!
Very nice experience, highly recommend. The staff friendly an very supportive, the food great, surf at pasta point amazing.Just left and planning when to be back. The scuba and fish excursion great time.
Amazing Vacation! One of the BEST resorts~
Had one of the BEST vacations ever at the Cinnamon Dhonveli! My wife and I were there from 9/20-2/29. If I could rate it a 20 I would rate it higher. I am a lifetime Titanium Elite with Marriott and have over 2,000 nights with them. I rarely walk into another hotel chain. Our original reservations were for the W Maldives but all Marriotts were closed until 10/1. We were disappointed and scrambling to find a new resort. I was hoping to do a few days surfing as well. It takes a LOT to impress me – but this resort really did! The staff were fantastic!! It was empty and we had the place to ourselves! Let’s talk about Covid-19 and safety. Many of my friends asked me “did you feel safe?” Absolutely! We felt like we were in a bubble. Everyone has to take a pcr test 72 hours before departure. Side note: BE SURE IT IS A PCR TEST AND IT WAS TAKEN LESS THAN 72 HOURS! We saw a couple people denied boarding because of the wrong test or it was taken too soon. All the staff have been tested and are required to stay on the island. They are all wearing masks. When you go to the restaurant you are required to use hand sanitizer. There are no walls and fans and you are socially distanced from the other guest, plus they have a 3 hour dining window. It was great. We flew back on Etihad through Abu Dhabi and the resort let us know they required another covid test 96 hours before departure. They scheduled it with their onsite doctor which was convenient, but it comes with a $150 fee per person. What did we like best about the resort? The staff! So friendly, so nice. The excursions were fun – we did the turtle snorkeling trip, dolphin cruise & night fishing. There was no one at the infinity pool. Only 1 other couple at the main pool. Most of the guests were surfers – including professional surfers Peterson Cristano, Matheus Navarro and their coach Italo. Miguel Pupo was there 2 weeks earlier and this week they welcome the #2 ranked surfer in the world Gabriel Medina and Yasmin Brunet. Peterson, Matheus and Italo were really nice. My wife is Brazilian and they were at the table next to us and were very friendly. If you are a good surfer Pasta Point is the place to be. The guys at Atoll Adventures were really nice and helpful too – Dara (the legend), Emon & Ryan. We got an over water bungalow with the premium all-inclusive and it included 2 excursions, massages, unlimited mini-bar, private dinner on the beach for one night & most everything. It didn’t include the snorkeling gear (I was not aware of that) so we got a big charge at the end (I never brought the gear back since I thought it was part of the package). It was my fault for not understanding if it was included. I was a bit jet-lagged when Patrice went over everything. The first night we had dinner at the Sunset bar and ordered prawns. They let us know it was an additional charge and we were good with it. The plate was filled with shrimp and had a small side bowl of French fries. When we saw the plate, my wife laughed and said “back home the small bowl would be the shrimp and all the shrimp would be french fries. The server overheard her and thought there was something wrong. The next day Chammil (food & beverage manager) approached us to ask if everything was fine with our dinner. We explained the joke my wife had made about not getting many shrimp back home and that it was excellent. He let us know if we ever did want more fries or anything that we could ask and they would accommodate. The food was REALLY good. My wife gave it a name – the Dhonveli belly – because we gained weight there. The buffet had so many different options and they rotated many new dishes. All were fantastic! They had a variety of different desserts as well. The beer got warm quickly so we asked for a bucket of ice and a few beers by the pool – problem solved. Some of the restaurants/bars aren’t yet open due to covid like the infinity pool bar and beach bar but it wasn’t an issue at all for us. They have a dive shop on the island for those that want to dive. Extra thanks to Patrice for taking pics of my us, Sattir for the amazing lei and towel arrangements, Niyaz for the best service, and Chammil for always checking on us. I wish I knew the pasta/omelet chef’s name and the sous-chef – they were really friendly and provided top notch service. We even surfed at Sultans with the sous chef on his day off. Great guy! The two ladies at the spa were also great – very relaxing massage. So good we had to get another massage! I would HIGHLY recommend this resort to anyone. We watched rays and black tip sharks swim by our deck every morning drinking coffee and even saw an octopus by our bungalow one day. We were so sad to leave the island. The premium all inclusive may be a bit overkill (it included snacks but we were usually too full from the buffet) but it was really nice not having to worry about drinks, food or meals.
Amazing surfing holidays
Great surfing Holiday. Amazing service. All of them. Especially Dileepa at the Ralhuu bar and Ashraf at the Main restaurant. Also great the surf team (Edam, Ryan, Haris, Dara, etc). Hope to come back next year ctm!
