The Worst Service
On the day we arrived, we went for lunch and wanted some food prepared for our son, a toddler. We were told that they normally prepare such meals on order, so we ordered for his dinner right there, and just picked something for him from the buffet. Dinner time, food wasn't ready! We asked them, what is the point of pre-ordering a meal 4hrs in advance, only to find it's not ready when you arrive? This happened again the following day! We were forced to identify one particular waiter with whom we would place our orders every time, and asked him to personally ensure they are ready on time. They have this weird thing they do on Friday night at dinner, where they switch off all the lights at the restaurants and only switch on this blue fluorescent bulbs, so when you enter the restaurant, it feels like you are walking into a night club, it is so dark, you can barely see the person next to you, even worse, you cannot see the food on your plate! We had to ask for like three candles on our table just so we could make out what we were eating from our plates! I don't know what they are trying to achieve by that, but it's a major fail. The establishment has more than one restaurant, why not make one of them have proper lighting for people who would like to see their dinner plates and the people eating dinner with them?! So we did not have any other booking option other than "All Inclusive" and the alcoholic drink options are appalling, Safari Vodka, or Safari Gin, or Safari Whiskey, or Tusker keg, or Penasol wine! Thats all we had at our disposal. We opted for Gin. They serve alcohol from 10:00am till midnight, however at some point in the night, we were told that there was no more gin! When we asked to speak to the manager on duty, somehow a bottle surfaced! This happened to us severally. So we figured the barman just didn't want to serve us. Remember, we have paid so much money for the all inclusive package, and we are being denied this cheap liquor! The general feel we got was like we were being served as if they were doing us a favour, especially during meal times. Also no one bothered to give us full information on Check-In. Don't you think it's important to inform guests with small kids that their meals have to be pre-ordered? Don't you thing it's important to inform guests that on Friday's, during dinner they are going to be eating in the dark? Our son was even freaked out by this and had trouble eating, he is not used to feeding in the dark!
Great family vacay
PROS: Our stay at Baobab was quite good. The food was great and the staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to cater to our needs. CONS: The all inclusive package is great for soft drinks but the alcoholic drinks are horrible to say the least. The room was decent but could do with some updating. Either way would definitely stay there again. Great budget trip and worth every penny. The free fourth night was a great incentive. **If you want to enjoy some peace and quiet arrive on a Monday. The weekend was quite packed but that did not affect the professionalism of the staff or quality of the service.
Very relaxed and beautiful resort
Reception staff were very helpful when we arrived late, they arranged a dinner for us despite the fact that restaurants were already closed. Chris from reception provided advice and support to us and other tourists constantly - money exchange, taxi, arranging for covid tests etc. We highly appreciated his support! Resort itself exceeded our expectations - quiet, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful garden with baobabs and unique trees, monkeys around premises, delicious food and stylish room with hardwood furniture. Pool was clean and Indian ocean beach was simply breathtaking. Cannot think of a better vacation!
Best Beach Therapy
The best family beach holiday destination you could ever experience. The white sandy beach and the ocean which had all shades of blue, will give you the best beachscape ever. The customer service was excellent and every service came with a smile. The resort atmosphere was relaxing with infinity pools. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The aircon worked efficiently. The delicious buffet and drinks was all inclusive. The entertainment was amazing from the Jambo team. Conservation efforts for Columbus monkeys and tropical forest was great to see. Overall experience was fabulous.
Rooms: were decent. Nothing exciting about them. We did not have Hot water for all the 5 days we were there, despite complaining numerous time to the reception. It seems like they did not care & even bother to follow up on that matter. Food: was of poor quality, typical mass produced, no flavour. Can you imagine they did not serve any sea food, except the first day, it was some type of over cooked fish. The tea was so terribly made, that you would rather make it on your own. Staff: Some were friendly, while others were exceptionally rude. Kole Kole staff were much friendlier and engaging compared to Baobab Staff. Would I stay here again? Never again.
