Spectacular Serengeti sundowners and bush dinners

As the sun sets, head to our special bush dinner location to dine beneath the stars …

By Rebecca Phillips
Lemala Camp Manager

Enjoy a cherished African safari tradition with our Lemala sundowners and bush dinners. We have beautiful sunset spots just outside of each of our Serengeti camps. At Nanyukie for example, it’s a private area on the riverbank beneath a flat-topped acacia tree, set up with comfy chairs and a bar serving a selection of wines, beers and spirits. I’d recommend our signature cocktail, the Nanyukie Sunset or a G&T, the typical sundowner tipple.

The views from our sundowner spots are just epic – think sweeping plains set against a backdrop of mountains. Often, you’ll get giraffes and elephants wandering past, it’s an iconic Serengeti scene and you can usually bag that classic shot of the sunset with an acacia tree in the foreground. As the sun sets and the stars come out, head to our special bush dinner location, which is set under trees strung with lanterns.

The night sky out in the Serengeti is perfect, free from pollution and filled with twinkling constellations. Guests are awed by views of the Milky Way and shooting stars. Enjoy a private table and a romantic set-up just outside of camp, with security nearby to keep you safe. We offer an à la carte menu with a choice of starter, main and two dessert options. Dining beneath the stars to the sound of distant animal calls is an experience you’ll never forget.

Rebecca Phillips feels very fortunate to call Tanzania home and grew up on a dairy farm in the southern part of the country. A Swahili speaker, some of her earliest memories are of family safaris in the bush. Plan your holiday withAlfred&

Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Gemma, who's travelled extensively in Tanzania. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it on their own. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the rangers who'll ensure you'll spot the best wildlife, the village chiefs who'll give you a genuine insight into local life and the camp managers who can recommend the very best spot to enjoy your sundowner.
