Once a crumbling 18th-Century manor house, Zenite Boutique Hotel & Spa is now a hip hideaway of cosy nooks, metallic tones and classic stone. A sweet courtyard invites guests to enjoy breakfast treats or take a refreshing dip in the small pool. The larger indoor pool is the perfect place to slow down after exploring the city.

Many of the 46 rooms and suites are in the modern wing, where they gain in full-height picture windows what they lack in period features. Here, the overarching design concept takes a slightly lighter, brighter form, with a paler but still warm colour scheme. The Twin Rooms, which are also available as a double, vary in layout depending on location but offer views of the hills, the city or the pool. The larger Suite Junior has a generous open-plan layout, which includes the bathroom; some have a bathtub at the foot of the bed. Families, or those who just like having lots of space, will appreciate the Suite Master, set on two levels with a sofabed in the ground-floor living space and with views in several directions.

At the diminutive spa, you can choose from a short menu of massages focused on soothing aching muscles. There are two swimming pools – one inside, one outside in a sheltered courtyard – with loungers where you can laze away a few hours between restorative dips.

By keeping this old colonial building intact, Zenite Boutique Hotel & Spa is preserving the architectural heritage of the area.

The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays unless there is a reservation with half board.
