Clean room, some night noise, very nice staff... need feather-free comforters.
The good: Bathroom was clean and very nice, room was 99% clean with "select guest" note and snack when we arrived (appreciated!). Hotel and parking were expensive, but we expected that for the location. The view from the window was nice. We loved staying in a historic hotel, loved the room decor, and loved the location. We ordered room service dinner one night, and the food was very good. The bad: There was a stain on one of the sheets, but it had to be changed anyway because the comforter in our feather-free room (requested because of strong feather allergies) felt as if it had down inside. When I called to request blankets without down, housekeeping insisted on the phone that the comforter was foam, but sent another comforter... which also had a "Downlite" label and appeared to be down. After the second call, we were able to get plain blankets. I would suggest providing plain blankets (or comforters not made by a brand that sells primarily down comforters) in rooms that request feather-free bedding due to allergies. Also, given the location, we did expect some street noise (and heard it) between 10pm-midnight Friday and Saturday nights, but what I didn't expect was a loud clanging from the street on 2 of the 3 nights we stayed, around 3:30-4:30am (can't remember exact time, but it was before 4:30am). I'm not sure if it was from deliveries, a trash truck, or something else, but it was very loud and lasted several minutes. If price and some street noise aren't concerns, this was a wonderful place to stay.
A great place to stay, but ..
My husband had a conference and the company booked us at the Omni Royal. We were excited, we had stayed at an Airbnb one block down and we walked by the Omni every day. We had wanted to stay at the Omni next visit. We had a great check in, got in our room early. The hotel and room was beautiful. The roof top pool and lounge area is very nice with great views from the observation deck. We left our room Monday at 830am and arrived back at 430pm and the room was untouched. Housekeeping had not arrived yet. We called the front desk and someone came up within 45 minutes. After a long day, it would have been nice to come back to a made up room to nap before the evening festivities. Same thing happened the second day. During our 4 day stay, housekeeping continued to come mid to late afternoon. We ran out of toilet paper, no extra was left in the room and housekeeping left less than a half roll on the holder. Seemed obvious another roll might be needed. On our last day, we loaded up the car with luggage, went to breakfast and came back to the room to get our beverages from the mini refrigerator. Housekeeping was in the room cleaning, the 6 pack of water was gone. The rest of the beverages were there and we packed them up. The woman stated some of the mini bar snacks were missing and we would be charged for them. We had purchased our own beverages and snacks and did not partake in the ones left in the room. All the other staff was very accommodating and helpful. We loved our stay, location was great. For the price of the room, one would expect prompt morning housekeeping services, 5pm is not an ideal time to clean a room. Also, removing items from a room prior to the guest formally checking out is not something we've encountered before. We had 2 hours until check out time when we returned for the beverages. Beyond those few issues, we enjoyed our stay.
Feb NOLA Trip
Lovely Hotel. Really nice people working there. If you needed anyting they took care of you. Great walking location. out the door two blocks and you are on bourbon. I did two tours and have a new appreciation for New Orleans. I would come back for sure. :)
The very best hotel in the French Quarter
My husband and I have been faithfully staying at the Omni Royal Hotel since 1999 and we wouldn’t dream of staying any other place. We live only a half an hour from the hotel and we make it a point to stay every month or so because we love our stay so very much. Julie Yates is the hotel contact for my husband Jesse and I. She has been making us feel like family since the early years of our visits. We’ve been made to feel like family; there’s never been an anniversary or a special occasion where Julie hasn’t remembered and she always goes out of her way to spoil us. We have a service dog, Achilles, and we couldn’t be more accepted and welcomed with him as well and the hotel is pet friendly so don’t forget your pooch. The Rib Room restaurant, their five-star restaurant and in-room dining, has also been a favorite for Sunday brunch, Prime-Rib, Seafood Gumbo, Bloody Mary’s and the best cheeseburger around. We are locals and we adore their food. Nicole is the sweetest and kindest server in the bar area—we have become like family—as is the restaurant’s dining room manager, Alan, who we also just adore and has the talent to manage a Michelin Star restaurant. If you book a room, try to grab a balcony, but there are also rooms around the central spacious courtyard. Just seconds from the most incredible music, food, and shopping in the world, you won’t regret your stay. Stay where the movie stars and the locals do and become like family on your next trip. Alysha and a Jesse Wimberly
Best place to stay
Best location in the French Quarter - easy walk to Jackson Square; 2 blocks to Bourbon Street; great view of the river from the roof top observation deck; and so many great restaurants just a few steps away.
