Fantastic holiday in excellent hotel
We had a briliant week here last Octber half term and have just booked agau for this year. Excellent service and staff. Great food. Lovely location. (Not to be confused with the Athena Beach nearby). Not suitbable for noisy young people but great for a relaxing and peaceful break.
Although we travelled in mid March I have delayed my review because of the lockdown. Where do I start? Hotel is 20 minutes from the airport and we arrived to a warm welcome from the staff and a glass of bucks fizz. Room was clean and had tea and coffee making facilities, in room safe, bathroom was clean although my only gripe with it was the shower was in the bath which was awkward for myself and my wife to climb into. Room made up every day with fresh towels and towels for the sunbeds. Buffet breakfast was incredible, even a gluten free table laden with foods. Used the a la carte restaurant three times in the week.( you have to book 24 hours in advance, not 48 or 72, but 24!!!) food was fabulous. ( There is a dress code in that restaurant but there are other restaurants to use if you so wish.) No need for guests to be out early in the morning reserving sunbeds with towels as I counted at least 250 beds around the 3 pools and grassed area. A 30 minute walk along the promenade takes you into the town with a good choice of bars and restaurants although there are bars and restaurants opposite the hotel or a 5 minute walk turning left out of the hotel. Of an evening there was always a singer or musician in the main lounge area. We also saw other rooms with Bingo or card games being played. The staff were so helpful they were fantastic. Hopefully will be back next year.
We had a wonderful stay at the Athena Royal Beach. Our room was clean and well equipped. The food was excellent with many choices available. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended.
We returned to this hotel in March 2020, having had such a great time in 2019. The staff are a real credit and very friendly, approachable & helpful. The hotel is clean and immaculate throughout and has lovely grounds that face the sea. A real pleasure to have sun beds spread out on the grass. It is within walking distance of the town centre along a level promenade. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the island had to close all hotels very quickly and regrettably we had to leave before the end of our holiday. Thank you to all the staff who kept smiling during this unsettling time, keeping things as normal as possible. We hope that the hotel will open to foreign tourists once again and we sincerely wish everyone well there, even if we are not able to return for a while. Thank you Athena Royal Beach.
Previous reviews say it all
Most of the reviews about this Hotel say it all. It is really a wonderful place to stay in Paphos. We have stayed in previous years at the neighbouring Athena Beach, which was closed for refurbishment at the time of our visit-also an excellent Hotel, but the Royal Beach is smaller, more intimate, and child free. Our room was good, with everything we would be likely to need- slippers, bath gowns-even an iron and ironing board. The fridge in the room is empty and can be used to chill soft drinks and mixers (there is also an ice machine in the corridor) and can be filled with drinks of your choice by the Hotel if you wish. We were staying on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast is best described as "sumptuous", containing absolutely everything that could be wished for. We did stay for dinner a couple of times, and the standard of the kitchen was equally good. What makes the Athena Royal Beach so special though, is the staff, who are smart, polite and helpful. We stayed for a month, during which time we became personal friends with some of them and they really were delightful. As a value for money winter package, staying here takes some beating and offers a complete rest and relaxation. We were fortunate in being able to stay during February and early March, arriving home just before the Coronavirus outbreak started to seriously take hold, and all the Hotels in Cyprus were closed until further notice. Would we return here for a winter break? You bet!
