Lovely short break
We stayed here for 4 nights - we just wanted a short winter adult only break away. We had the elite class junior suite with sea view. The rooms are huge... and bathroom too.., it compromised of a bath and large double shower! As we had the elite class we had the meet and greet with champagne on arrival, a nice touch. The junior suites has their own loft as they located on the top floor, which meant lifts were readily available. It wasn’t sunbathing weather so we didn’t utilise the pools or beach cabanas - although one morning we did sit out along the beach front. Hotel is lovely, clean and tidy, it’s quite dated internally, I usually like more of a contemporary feel and this was most certainly a more traditional interior. We were only on bed & breakfast basis, but breakfast choice and food was fantastic and very hot. Tea and coffee was served to us. Entertainment was minimal, I expect this was due to time of year as it was out of season, this didn’t bother us anyway as we ventured out of an evening. The seafront walk to the harbour is done 25 mins but is a nice walk, the buses run regularly outside of the hotel and we took a taxi a few times which didn’t cost too much. We used the indoor pool which was nice, it was heated too which was a bonus!! I also had a lovely massage in the spa which I’d also recommend. We did feel a little out of place age wise at the hotel, I’m mid 30’s and hubby mid 40’s, the age range was around 65+ but again this made no bearance on our break whatsoever. All in all, would recommend and would happily stay again.
Stayed here for a week in February and I wasn't disappointed, the staff were all very friendly, the entertainment staff were excellent and made sure everyone was welcome t the games we played. We checked out very early morning and even tho it was night time the staff member was very friendly! Would return any time.
Fantastic holiday in excellent hotel
We had a briliant week here last Octber half term and have just booked agau for this year. Excellent service and staff. Great food. Lovely location. (Not to be confused with the Athena Beach nearby). Not suitbable for noisy young people but great for a relaxing and peaceful break.
Although we travelled in mid March I have delayed my review because of the lockdown. Where do I start? Hotel is 20 minutes from the airport and we arrived to a warm welcome from the staff and a glass of bucks fizz. Room was clean and had tea and coffee making facilities, in room safe, bathroom was clean although my only gripe with it was the shower was in the bath which was awkward for myself and my wife to climb into. Room made up every day with fresh towels and towels for the sunbeds. Buffet breakfast was incredible, even a gluten free table laden with foods. Used the a la carte restaurant three times in the week.( you have to book 24 hours in advance, not 48 or 72, but 24!!!) food was fabulous. ( There is a dress code in that restaurant but there are other restaurants to use if you so wish.) No need for guests to be out early in the morning reserving sunbeds with towels as I counted at least 250 beds around the 3 pools and grassed area. A 30 minute walk along the promenade takes you into the town with a good choice of bars and restaurants although there are bars and restaurants opposite the hotel or a 5 minute walk turning left out of the hotel. Of an evening there was always a singer or musician in the main lounge area. We also saw other rooms with Bingo or card games being played. The staff were so helpful they were fantastic. Hopefully will be back next year.
We had a wonderful stay at the Athena Royal Beach. Our room was clean and well equipped. The food was excellent with many choices available. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended.
