Can't faulty it, we had such a lovely time
We stayed here for my husband's birthday and WoW what a place. From check-in to check-out we felt more like royalties. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We stayed here on a half board basis and had the options of eating on different restaurants including the Nobu at no extra cost. This is top-notch luxury at its best. I have stayed in so many 5 star hotels around the world but I rate this amongst the best. From food to the whole experience we were very impressed. We also made use of the spa and the gym which were both awesome and an amazing experience. the rooms were spacious and cleaned twivce a day and toiletries replenished at the same time. We are already considering another stay in December.
On arrival the hotel was very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel rooms are fantastic, comfortable beds, excellent quality bedding, towels, robes and slippers. Housekeeping look after rooms impeccably. The room is exceptionally large with a large bathroom and separate walk in shower which was good. Balcony was large with nice wood furniture and beautiful views of the sea and the hotel. Breakfast is high quality buffet and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, gestures such as taking your toast or eggs when cooked to your table and remembering your favourite table. Evening dining on a half board basis in the main restaurant offered a set meal of several mains, starters and desserts. We ate in here twice and it had a beautiful ambience and excellent service, however the menu was not changed during our stay, this became a bit boring and less appealing. Lunch also appeared to be this same menu if you required lunch at the hotel. There were two other restaurants that offered a half board supplement. The Italian restaurant is amazing and we were very much looked after and made to feel very welcome by Mario, this restaurant is a must when staying here, the food and service is wonderful. We did not visit the Matsuhisa restaurant and in season there is a Greek restaurant which we could not try as it was not open yet. The bar we enjoyed most evenings and till late, Sebastian looked after us he took the time to show us around the outdoor areas of the bars for when the weather may be better the views are enviable and Sebastian was a great host. There is also a great beach bar Plusc this is a must to visit and just opposite the hotel on the beach offering excellent food, views and service. This is not part of the hotel. The only thing I would have to say is as much as it is a wonderful hotel, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to couples, it is more of a family hotel. I think this would become more evident in high season and if you are looking for a bit more peace and quiet from a beautiful hotel you may be disappointed.
Did not enjoy my stay at this hotel
Came to Cyprus for a friends wedding and couldn't get a room at the Amathus where the wedding party were staying and where we have enjoyed our stay in the past. Amara is a beautiful hotel but the service was miserable and we didn't enjoy our stay.
Top notch 5 star luxury with a smile made for a remarkable experience
Superb room and excellent facilities coupled with very friendly and helpful staff combined to make our stay relaxing and us feeling just that bit special. Breakfast was as comprehensive as it gets, but not everything was as hot as it should have been. We learnt over the three days we were there to mainly eat our hot food from the freshly cooked station. Sadly, some of the evening meal food was also not up to the 5 star standard we were expecting. We were staying half board, and it was not fully explained to us when we checked in how the half board dinner system worked. The first night, we ate in the main restaurant. It was a big space and only five tables were being used. We ordered warm goats cheese salad, followed by grilled calamari. The salad was fine, but when they took it away our main course arrived immediately. When we started to eat it, it was cold. It had clearly been cooked in advance and left. After only a few minutes, the calamari was like rubber, and the rice was stone cold. We should have complained there and then, but like typical Brits we didn't. We just left it and told the waiter when he came to collect the plates. He was apologetic, but that's all. The following night was Valentine's night, and we were horrified to find that all three restaurants were fully booked for special menu dinners, mainly with non residents. Surely, we should have been told of the arrangements either when we booked, or at least a week or so before we arrived? For guests who hadn't booked, they put on a buffet in the breakfast room, but the food was average as buffets often are, and the food was again barely luke warm. However, we got it right on the third night. We booked for Locatelli's, the fine dining Italian restaurant. This was superb! The food and the attention to detail was simply magnificent! When we return to the Amara, we will know the system in advance, and make sure that we book to eat in either Locatelli's or Matsuhisa, the Japanese restaurant.
The Best Hotel in Cyprus
Already entering the hotel we felt the special attitude of the staff. At the front desk our requests were answered without hesitation and we could feel that the staff was doing their best to assist us. The room we got on the seventh floor was large and spacious with an exceptional view of the sea and pool. Large comfortable bed, modern seating sofa, large comfortable bathroom. Above all the terrace with the amazing view and breathtaking. Despite the winter weather, I really enjoyed the facilities of the hotel, especially the heated indoor pool. Breakfast was rich and varied. The service was fast and efficient. A large supply of food. A variety menu that is difficult to describe. One evening we ate at the Italian restaurant at the hotel. Very high level restaurant with gourmet food. Worth every penny. On my last day, I felt unwell and needed medical help. The hotel went out of its way to make it easier for us. A doctor came to treat me in no time. Again and again I received, without any extra charge, hot drinks and refreshments to my room to make me feel more comfortable and ease our stay. Maya from PR did her utmost to make us feel like home and indeed we felt warm and embracing from the staff so we could continue to enjoy our vacation in Limassol. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the hotel staff again for their excellent service. We promise to attend this beautiful hotel again with all the family in 2020
