We just came from our honeymoon in MIlaidhoo where we stayed for 5 nights. Since the moment we arrived to the private lounge in the airport everything was perfect. Our butler Sultan was at all time making sure everything was just as we wanted. The service in all of the restaurants is outstanding. And above all, for us the best of Milaidhoo was its gorgeus watervilla and the reef full of fishes and even sharks. We couldn’t ask for more. Thanks to everyone in Milaidhoo.
Five-Star Through and Through, a Totally Classy Resort
This resort gets all thumbs-up. A resort representative was there to meet us as we arrived in Male, the main island in the Maldives, and take us to the seaplane port. We had to wait for a squall to pass before boarding the seaplane to the resort. The resort rep kept checking on us and giving us updates so we weren’t feeling like we had been forgotten. On the return trip, another resort rep was kind enough to help us with the paperwork and through the customs process. This was a new place for us where the native people speak another language. Because of this, we were a bit off balance. The resort reps made it so easy, we would be comfortable returning here again and again. The first morning we were there, our days and nights were still flipped, so we headed out early to grab some breakfast. We were to find that we were a bit too early. The restaurant hadn’t opened yet. We were impressed when we came across some the staff members on the boardwalk working out, stretching, doing yoga, etc. We were invited to do a yoga class or to do yoga with them. I regret not doing it but at that point, we just needed sleep from 30 hours of traveling to get there. When we arrived at the resort, we were met by Abdulla, our personal butler and one of the biggest reasons we had such an incredible time during our stay. Abdulla did everything for us including overseeing housekeeping, making restaurant reservations, checking us in and out, arranging outings, scheduling COVID testing prior to our return home, completing our customs paperwork for the return trip and accompanying us all the way back to the seaplane platform. He went above and beyond in so many ways! We asked him about how a resort in the middle of the ocean gets fresh water and power. Abdulla arranged for us to take a tour of the areas where power and fresh water are generated. He really made us feel special. In our final days, he and the rest of the staff arranged for a special dinner, including a table decorated with a heart and designs in flowers and leaves along with a very nice parting message to us. Then, on our last night, we came to our room to find our bed decorated the same way but also included a treasure - an old bottle that had washed up on the beach - that Abdulla personally hand-painted a picture of the island on! It is the only souvenir we had and we will put it out somewhere we can fondly remember our stay. Our villa was an over-the-water villa with a private swimming pool. I liked the layout, with all windows facing the back going from floor to ceiling, including the bathroom. The bed was soft, yet supportive with nice down pillows. I’m a mattress and pillow snob so these things are important to me. The back of the bed’s headboard was a long desk/makeup area with cabinets behind it for the fridge, wine cooler, and snacks. Backing that was a sizable walk-through wardrobe area with plenty of hangars, a couple drawers and a safe. There was a TV in the room but who wants to watch TV when you’ve got the ocean right outside your door, right? The TV was mounted in such a way that it could be hidden by pictures on the wall. Nice touch. Next to the bedroom was the large bathroom with dual vanities, a freestanding tub, a big tile shower with picture window and a fully enclosed water closet for the bidet toilet. The bathroom was also nicely appointed including a vanity mirror with back lighting, a designer rolling tray for use in the bath tub, and a designer wooden “ladder” to hang your towels and wet suits on. Outside, the large back deck could be accessed by french doors in the bathroom or in the bedroom, opening up so much that a large part of the back of the villa could be opened up. There were two lounge chairs, a small dining table, a hanging swing daybed big enough for two and an almond-shaped bed at the edge of the pool. At dark, tiny pinlights came on in the floor of the pool, making a magical, romantic twinkle as the water moved. The whole area was shielded from neighboring villas by wooden fencing, so there was all the privacy one could ask for. There were stairs going down to the water and snorkels and masks were provided for snorkeling the house reef right off of our back deck. It was good snorkeling, too. Lots of colorful fish to see! The stairs leading down to the water also had a water spigot to rinse any sand off of our feet; just another thoughtful touch. The food and beverage staff treated us like VIPs, with five-star service and food. They worked to remember our names and to greet and have conversation with us every time we had a meal. We looked forward to talking with them every time we ate. Even the manager over the entire food and beverage spoke with us. He even took time out of his day to give me a lesson in how to make a splash at any party by lopping the top off of a champagne bottle with a big knife. How fun and how completely thoughtful! He even paid for the champagne, or ‘sparkling wine’ as we learned is the proper descriptive for bubbly that comes from anywhere other than Champagne France! Each morning when we visited the extensive, very diverse and breakfast buffet, one of the staff would come by and carry my plate to the table for me. They started us off with a spicy juice “shot” each morning, called an “eye opener.” Juice selections were freshly made from fresh fruit. The buffet included foods from all over the world, cold drip coffee, assorted breads, sushi, bacon and sausage, local fare, cheeses, yogurts, breads and a lot more. I bought a bottle of wine to drink a glass at a time in the evenings and they were kind enough to deliver it to whatever restaurant we would be dining in that evening. They were the epitome of professional, with crisp, clean white uniforms and big smiles. It would be difficult to find a resort with any better service. We found out one day that the evening before, all of the food and beverage staff had gone on a company outing for staff morale. I believe they went to a nearby island and had a Bar-B-Que. We asked if they were treated well by the resort owners. The answer was a resounding yes. They work long hours, yes, but are shown gratitude for all they do. Their staff quarters included things like a restaurant, game areas, and a gym. Many of the staff had been there since Milaidhoo opened five years ago. Needless to say, we were deeply impressed by this. The housekeeping staff was fantastic as well. While they operated behind the scenes, it seemed like they had some kind of radar and knew when we came and went. The room was kept spotless for us. (Abdulla, I know you had something to do with that, too! Thank you!) There wasn’t a single grain of sand on the floor, the sheets were crisp, bright white, and pulled tightly on the bed. Pillows were fluffed, windows were invisible in their cleanliness and all of our traveling junk was neatly lined up. We were quite impressed. I had no second thoughts about walking barefoot across the floor, even in the bathroom, it was that clean. I probably wouldn’t picnic in the bathroom on the floor, but it would probably be clean enough to even do that! My husband and I made a few trips to the spa for massages and me for nails, pedicure, and hair braiding. The ladies here made my experience so peaceful, relaxing and zen-like including placing essential oils under my nose on the massage table to relax me. Hot towels were used liberally, with many of those aahhhhhh moments. I cannot even single out one specific lady who did a great job, because everyone I spoke with was sweet, caring, and helpful. We got the opportunity to go on one outing; swimming with the mantas. I had been concerned about sea sickness as this has been an issue with me in the past. The dive master told me that the resort EMT recommended an anti-nausea medication that their other guests had had success with. I was leery after having taken over-the-counter medicines for motion sickness which made me nauseated and sleepy, worse than if I had taken nothing at all. I decided to give it a try as the outing wouldn’t be all that long. We had just over a half-hour boat ride out there and 45 minutes for snorkeling around the manta area. I have to say that the EMT and dive master were right. The medicine did the trick wonderfully and we had a great outing. We were rewarded with six to eight graceful, curious mantas swimming all around and up close to us, at least for a short while. The dive master and Abdulla came along and managed to keep the group of us together despite a rogue group of manta viewers from another resort who were not following the rules of quiet and calm around the mantas. We all chose to leave early, but we had gotten to see enough to make us all happy. The entire resort, restaurants and all other facilities were just as clean as our room was. Tables were cleaned as soon as guests departed restaurants, sand floors in the bar and other areas were tidy and combed as were walkways around the island. The buffet was so tidy that not a crumb was left beside any serving tray and the serving utensils were constantly being replaced with clean ones. It is clear that the resort was carefully and thoughtfully laid out with beach villas and water villas being built with maximum view and privacy while infrastructure areas were in the center of the island. I was amazed that a resort with 50 villas could have a staff of around 250, housed on the island and out of site except for in the course of their duties. This all seemed like an incredible feat, a feat of planning the resort and layout, of hiring the right people, of sourcing the freshest of foods, and a hundred other little things. Mostly it takes each and every staff member to be motivated and happy in order to pull off. I will gladly return again and again, as Abdulla mentioned other guests had done. I see and understand why. The prices were steep, yes, but considering the entire package we received, I cannot say it wasn’t completely worth it, from the fabulous and talented chef and restaurant staff, to the caring and extremely skilled spa staff to Abdulla and his butler colleagues, to the housekeeping, food and beverage, and the resort reps who helped us through the airport and seaplane port. If there were more than five stars, I would rate them that high. I hate to encourage others to visit, though. <big grin> I really liked the fact that there weren’t large crowds. I like the special treatment and being one of only a few guests. If you do choose to go here, enjoy the staff, the beautiful diversity of interesting cultures and the sense of family that go along with it. To recap: Pros: Super staff, attentive and helpful 5-star food with local fare as well as cuisine from regions all over the world Villas with everything one could want for, including private pools, squeaky clean Cons: None
Kenta & Yuna ------ Dear Liusha, and Milaidhoo Family. Everybody's service was more kind than any service received. We can not listen to English well and can not speak well. However, this honeymoon was the most important in our lives and the best memories. It is only because Liusha tried to communicate hard with us, and everyone of Milaidhoo Family was carefully and kindly contacted. What I suggested a plan to make a better memories, always cared for us, taking a wonderful wedding photo, I met Manta, I ate the best food and drink, all are engraved on our memory. Thank you very much. I would like to visit this best small island again, so thank you at that time. Sincerely, Kenta & Yuna
Over Water villa
My stay in milaidhoo was exceptionally outstanding in the over water villa The level of privcy was really to my expectation as i was tottaly isolated from the other villas next to me and from the walkway on the other side The view was amazing and the food varity is really satisfying Very rarly there are other gusts swim in front of the villas but it was not an issue as the area is massive The space indoor is huge in comparison with other resorts in maldives I would highly recommend the grill restaurant for both meat and sea food The resort do really take care of every detailes to grant us the best experiance All the employees in the resort are nice and extremly helpful Especially our butler Liusha who did take care of us since we landed on the island until the last moment we stayed. From food ,activities , room service until reservation and logistics all was done by her. Appreciate her and her colleages effort for such a beautiful holiday ... defenitly will come back
