Honeymoon Of Our Dreams
Where to begin...My husband and I recently returned from the most incredible honeymoon at Milaidhoo. Given Covid, not surprisingly, our wedding did not go as we had initially planned. Determined to not let the pandemic affect our honeymoon, we pushed through the burdensome pre-travel requirements and potentially risky long-haul travel to make it to Milaidhoo. We had no idea what to expect and did not know whether Milaidhoo would even be fully functional given everything. All we knew was we wanted to have some semblance of a honeymoon, even if not perfect. What we didn’t know was just how perfect (and fully operational) Milaidhoo would be, not just during Covid, but any period of time. We’d always dreamed of the Maldives for our honeymoon, but this was better than anything we ever imagined. The rooms were gorgeous, the beach perfect, the food amazing (and we like to consider ourselves “foodies”), and the service warm, kind, and just so far beyond anything we have ever experienced (including at the Four Seasons). When we arrived, it was as if Covid didn’t exist (except for all the behind the scenes safety measures constantly taking place). Ashra, our butler for the week, greeted us warmly. She gave us a quick introduction to the island and basically said to us “anything you want is possible.” And that was the theme of the trip. Ashra, Sharufeez, and the whole Milaidhoo team made us feel so special and like nothing was too much. They consistently went above and beyond to give us the perfect honeymoon, whether it was upgrading us to the Ocean Residence (simply incredible), setting up the beach loungers with snacks and drinks for a day at the beach, bringing us beautiful breakfast spreads to our villa every morning, preparing gorgeous romantic dinners on the beach, or creating a beautiful honeymoon ceremony, for us, they constantly outdid themselves. They even called every neighboring island to try to track down coconut yogurt for me after their shipment got delayed. The fact that they would go to such lengths to find me something seemingly so trivial sums up the kind of service you get at Milaidhoo. Ashra and the team wanted us to feel pampered and wow, did we. Even if just for an all-too-fast week, we were able to forget about everything going on in the world so we could focus on each other and soak up the joy and romance of being newly married. Words cannot describe how grateful we are to Ashra and the Milaidhoo team. It was, by far, the most amazing holiday we have ever had. Thank you, Milaidhoo! We can’t wait to come back.
Heaven is a place on Earth!
Milaidhoo is all that it claims and more. I will not attach any photos because they don't do the resort any justice. The place is even more beautiful in reality than in the pictures. We had the gourmet plan and the food and drinks were outstanding! We were beyond satisfied after each and every meal! Fish, seafood and steaks were always delicious and perfectly prepared by chef Dimitri Marsh and his whole team. Nothing was ever off-limits. We were a group of 6, and if we wanted to dine at one restaurant, but one of us was feeling like eating something from another's restaurant menu, they would serve anything you wanted, just to make you feel pampered and perfect at any time. Our villa host, Abdulla, is a very kind and nice person, a true professional, I can honestly say that we consider him our Maldivian friend after an 8 nights stay. We let him know at the beginning that my fiancé & I were celebrating our recent engagement, and the other two couples were celebrating their 25 years and 30 years of marriage anniversaries. So he prepared a very special surprise for us. After one of the destination dining dinners we had on the beach, we went to our villas to find a bubble bath full of rose petals, a complimentary champagne bottle, some gourmet chocolates and a personalized cake, as well as a romantic bed arrangement. Regarding the included trip in the gourmet plan, we had to choose between a sunset cruise and a manta ray snorkeling trip at Hanifaru Bay. We chose the manta trip, which we did on our second day. Unfortunately, as they are wild creatures, we didn't get to see any mantas on that day. But we were very pleasantly surprised when on our last day on the island, Abdulla let us know that his sea ranger friends found a group of 6-8 mantas nearby, so after about 15 minutes we were already embarked on a luxurious speed yacht, and after another 20 minutes we were already snorkeling with the gentle giants. This will be a memory to last a lifetime! For my fiancé & I this was our 7th trip to the Maldives, but it was our first time finding mantas. He is a diver and was looking for them for a long time, but no luck, until Abdulla arranged this wonderful trip for us! And the best surprise, it was all complimentary! They didn't charge us anything, considering that on our first included trip we didn't get to see any mantas, even though then they had taken us to about 6 different places looking for them. So thank you very much Abdulla for taking the time & energy to make this vacation a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Spa was also amazing & the therapists were very talented and experienced. I had the most wonderful deep tissue massage, followed by an Indian head & shoulders coconut oil treatment, and felt like I was walking on clouds for the next few days! Another great thing about the resort is that I didn't wear any shoes, not even flip-flops, for the whole 8 day stay. This is an experience you cannot imagine until you've tried it. Between walking barefoot on sand all the time, encountering birds & lizards and other little inhabitants of the island and admiring the lush vegetation at every step, you feel more connected to nature than ever. Snorkeling was amazing as well, the house reef was quite alive compared to other islands we had visited before, and the fish population `exploded `during the lockdown. We saw turtles, sharks & stingrays on numerous occasions, as well as the whole assortment of colorful reef fish usually found in the Maldives. I could keep going, but I don't want to spoil all the surprises Milaidhoo has to offer. If you choose this island for your special occasion, I am sure you will not regret it one bit. Thank you, Milaidhoo, for the wonderful small island story you created for us!
Milaidhoo is our Michelin Star
We spent 5 days in September with our best friends, 3 couples. It was obviously best days in 2020, we call it WoW impression of the Year. The level of service, attention to us, comfort of entire stay are incredible and impressive. Restaurant food is so delicious, level of service is so high, we perceive it as Michelin Star level. Our special thanks to Hussy, our butler during stay, who organized our every step with high level of professionalism. Watching movie on the beach, sea walk with snorkeling, every day was different and enjoyable. Many thanks to all hotel staff for special attention to health care and protection measures during quarantine time. Thanks to all of you!!
What a wonderful place
Had a family Christmas holiday. It was unforgettable! The pampering starts from the moment you land in Male. The staff are super ! Friendly , courteous, helpful, to serve all needs. Food exceptional. The sea is great. Suggest the night dives . Great fun. And the villas amazing . Strongly recommended!
A very special place
We stayed for a couple of weeks beginning of March and were amongst the last to enjoy a stress-free holiday before the coronavirus restrictions kicked in. We stayed in a beach villa that faced east and gave us both stunning sun and moon rises. The wind was more prevalent on our side but was no more than a gentle breeze which made the heat more comfortable. The villa was incredibly spacious and we spent the whole time lounging around without once feeling restricted. It felt like our own resort within a resort. The deck was enormous with a variety of seats and loungers and the private pool was large enough for several strokes in any direction. There was plenty of shade and apart from the very occasional, distant guest wondering past along the beach (and it's the kind of place where most wave apologetically for the intrusion) we had total and utter privacy and peace. The food was exceptional. For variation we did try the Shoreline and Ba’theli restaurants but never tired of the Ocean, it took on a different identity every time we sat down to eat. Those who looked after us there were brilliant and gave us suggestions for unlisted dishes and variations on a menu which in the end we barely looked at. Like many hotels the Milaidhoo operates a “butler” service. Request go through your personal butler. They are available any time, day or night. There is constant communication between them and all departments. It seems even the smallest of requests and comments of any significance are passed on. It was a genuine pleasure to have met everyone at Milaidhoo, I’d mention names but wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. That said I have to say thank you to the wonderful Akoo. His kindness, patience and incredible efficiency made our stay beyond exceptional. In short, Milaidhoo is a small and very quiet resort which protects your peace and privacy. It gave us a level of contentment we have not felt anywhere else. From the General Manager down, there was a genuine kindness, concern and a total commitment to make our stay the very best it could be. It was. Next year we will once again be spending a couple of weeks at the Milaidhoo and hopefully in the care of Akoo. Prior to booking our holiday, I read in Trip Advisor a review which said "if you want anything then ask for it", trust me that is true.
