Milaidhoo Resort Maldives
We chose this resort for peace and tranquility, plus quality of accommodation, service and the house reef. We were not disappointed, our host, Anth could not have been more helpful, organising so much for us from restaurant bookings to picnics on deserted islands. Similarly Sony and Bella always greeted us with a smile at the Ocean restaurant. The reef at Milaidhoo is exceptional, Ori the Marine Biologist made sure we knew how to get the most from our numerous snorkeling trips. Food here is excellent where ever you chose to eat, likewise the accommodation, whether you chose an over the water or beach villa. A great experience, one we are looking to repeat as soon as possible
Even better than expected
This trip for my hubby and I had been canceled a few times due to Covid… so glad we decided to come! So beautiful, lovely staff who take such good care of us… we’ve only here 36 hours on a 10 day vacation… just chilling in 88 degrees where our own pool and turquoise sea water are all the same… we have a private very private bungalow with lovely unusual wall with niches of candles.. reminds me of a hotel in India…huge room with bed facing the private pool then few steps to white sand and few steps to warm sea waters.. you can walk around the whole island on this soft sand… only 50 rooms scattered about… great Compass bar where you sit looking out at lit shallow pool that sits in front of ocean… live music on certain nights.. a special restaurant on stationery boats that we will be trying in a few nights… another night a grill BBQ and main restaurant called Ocean open for breakfast and dinner… menus in each restaurant quite comprehensive… great wines! I scheduled a massage tomorrow afternoon abd each treatment room is over the ocean so you can see and hear the soft pleasing waves (my favorite sound)… they also have several types of excursions available… dolphin/whale watching… scuba.. fishing… and more! Make this a priority on your List of Places to Visit..it’s in the Indian Ocean and much more private than Seychelles.. also we flew Ethiad Airlines which is truly 5 stars!
Enchanting and exceptional
This place is a short distance away from the airport. Roughly 30-45 minutes north of Male by sea plane. You would likely need to take the seaplane North to venture here. The island is beautiful and owned by a private family. As many experiences are, you can customize your stay to your preference. A boat restaurant called Ba’theli Bar and Lounge lay some meters east of the island. The food at Ba’theli was the best food we had in the Maldives; authentic and varied curries, range of seafood selections, an international menu with delights from Morocco and the like. We ate here at least 3 times, each time without fail. To the north of Milhaidoo you can see the four seasons. Yet another experience here was the spa. It was exotic to be honest. The staff at the spa paid attention to about every detail I could fathom, caressing and massaging my body until I was sound asleep. The exquisite teas after the session were full bodied and reminded me of the East. Our manager, Hussy, was exceptional with his coordination of activities, dining and basically anything we so desired. Without a doubt, he was highly experienced and professional, worth top dollar. As you would expect, the staff at the resort are very personable and nice. The staff all wore masks religiously as they kept the rooms consistently sanitized and comfortable. The property had an amazing reef. However, from the north side overwater bungalows it was not easy to traverse to the reef during the low tide as there were large rocks and trigger fish present. Still, once the few meters were overcome, the reef was bountiful with myriad aquatic life and beautiful water. It seemed cooler in Milhaidoo compared to Anantara, which was geographically positioned more south. Highly recommend a stay here as it is worth every penny!
Villas 109 and 110 - the best for sunset. Milaidhoo exceeded our expectations in every way. Exceptional reef, rooms, service and food. You can pretty much forget about Corona from the minute you get there. Paradise!
Wow! Wow ! Wow!
Where to start ? The room was massive, well appointed , it had the largest pool in an overwater villa we have ever been to - truly large enough for swimming . The outdoor decking had plenty of seating areas and plenty of shade - really well thought out - we both loved the swing seat ! The bed was very comfortable , the bathroom was large with both a bath and a large shower ( an outdoor shower would have been even better !!!) The food was easily the best we have had in the Maldives - fine dining quality with great choice - lunch at the bar was surprisingly our highlight - the Tuna was to die for but there was so much choice and it was all fresh, well presented and delightful - we had the Gourmet package which whilst very expensive was well worth it with the choice of 3 restaurants and the bar to eat at we were literally spoilt for choice The service was just how we like it - informal, very friendly but super efficient - it felt like we were amongst friends , every body knew our names and took the care and the time to remember our particular favourites - from flat whites at breakfast in our special cups, to a cold beer from the bottle at lunch in its own ice bucket to an excellent choice of wines that went perfectly with the food we ate at night The resort was almost full but the place always seemed quiet due to its great design and thoughtful layout , the beach was perfect and the snorkelling was amazingly easy - our walk round the island after breakfast would always result in some amazing sights from flying fish, to reef sharks almost on the beach to turtles swimming under our villa But what made our time there so special were the people we met - from Ammadey our host who was always available , to the bar staff Saji and Lucky ( full name is available on request !!) who knew what we wanted before we wanted it and kept us entertained with their stories and laughter and most of all to Miyuru who in addition to serving in the bar was the acting sommelier ( a service we used heavily !!) and treated us so so well it was untrue So if you are at all unsure if you should go during these COVID times or are worried about the cost of the trip - I have only 2 words of advice - JUST GO !!
