Chia Laguna is composed of several different accommodation possibilities. This review regards the Village accommodation. The Village has accommodation in cottages and buffet service meals. It has a huge pool and a train that brings you to the beach. All in all our holiday was good but there were some points that we did not like. The rooms are very small : for three persons they are really tiny and with very little storage space. There were no kleenex in the room and despite being refurbished you can see they have an old concept (bathroom with no ventilation, tiny walls - you can hear all from upstairs...). The sea is beautiful BUT the beach is not well managed : the life guard is never there, always talking on the phone and never finding any solutions to whatever question you may have. You need the lifeguard to collet towels but he is never around.... the animation team is not much present (probably due to the covid emergency) nevertheless the evening shows are very nice. Food is nice BUT the service is very disorganized. Both at the restaurant on the beach and at the buffet. Waiters are not organized : they do all sorts of things (they dress up the table, take the orders for the rinks, clean up the table, etc) so nobody knows exactly what to do and as a consequence there are queues and tables are never cleaned up. This was a major issue at dinner. Also the prices of the drinks are ridiculously high : 4 euros for a bottle of water and no less that 45 euros for a bottle of wine. They overcharge too much. Last note : the tea quality was very low and really undrinkable... If the management could redress the service problem it would be a good start.
A bad start…
Good points: 1) all staff encountered so far was very welcoming, smiling and professional but some of them (reception and the breakfast welcome lady) lack basic hospitality skills (see below). 2) very good evening entertainment activities for both kids and adults. 3) room was refurbished although very very basic. Bad points: 1) Check in on a Saturday morning at 9am with an airport transfer organized by the hotel directly, my kids and i were shown to our room only at 3pm instead of a normal check in time of 2pm. There was no air conditioning / no fan in the lobby and nobody proposed/suggested water or anything else to us or other family that were waiting for the room keys. The only apologise we got was hotel is fully booked and housekeeping got delayed. 2) no sound isolation from upstaires’ room and neighboring room. Unfortunately for us, we got a Superior Cottage connecting room (although i asked for a quiet room) and i was waken up at 8:30am by 3 successive alarm clocks that my neighbor did not hear. 3) Upon check in on Saturday, we were told breakfast was between 7:30-10:30am. But when going for breakfast on Sunday (the next day) at 10:10am, we were told breakfast was closed 10 mins ago !!! When i replied saying that’s not possible since the day earlier upon check in we were told it was 10:30am, she said the decision was made yesterday… of course, none of the customers were informed ! After calling reception about this event, they replied customers will be informed during the day. First time to experience a hotel where breakfast closes at 10am ! And where changes impacting customers were not communicated in advance !
Campioni Soccer Academy made the holiday for us
We chose to visit Chia Laguna as the British run football academy was highly recommended to us by friends. We were not disappointed. I have never written on here but when I read some negative reviews I felt the need to comment as I can’t recommend this place enough on what it has to offer! We signed our 12 year old son on to the Campioni Soccer Academy and booked our holiday through them (best price available on the internet). The week began on the Sunday evening with a very personable and friendly drinks reception hosted by the Campioni Soccer Academy who were so welcoming. The children were each presented with their personalised football kits by Liverpool FC ex player Emile Heskey who was to be their coach for the week. The training was top class and was lead by Dave who works at Fulham FC, our son plays regular football in the UK but what he learnt from this week was really recognisable on our return. He made so many friends (as did we) and he ended up spending more time with his new football friends than with us! Evenings were fun chatting to other parents and Emile and his family. The resort is safe and family friendly so the children enjoyed their freedom, the beach is stunning and the buffet food is very varied, we didn’t get bored. All in all a great holiday experience thanks to Campioni and the friendly and fun group we met!
My partner and I visited Chia Laguna in September to enjoy the serine and relaxing atmosphere when children are back to school and the place is ideal for couples. We got exactly what we wished for – beautiful Sardinia with its stonewashed slick-rocky narrow streets going up and down, lavish tropical gardens, gorgeous beach and an astonishing sea that gets panoramically stormy one day and mesmerizingly quiet and turquoise another. It was amazing that people who worked there always seemed to be happy – friendly, smiling, relaxed. They always made sure to greet you, it was very sweet. When you go the sea, there’s a choo-choo train that will take you from the Village to the beach (around a 5 min drive) – if you come to the station and see the train has just moved, don’t be distraught! The driver will be sure to look back and to stop for you if you wave! Our special regards to the chefs and the supporting staff of the Bouganville restaurant. The dinners there were fantastic – every evening there was a new menu of hot dishes; authentic Italian recipes, good varieties of salads and unrivalled Italian deserts. We would also really like to complement the reception staff. Any question or request I had for them they were attentive to. A couple of times I’d pop in and give them a task to work on for me. I would then go to the beach, and they’d sort everything out and call me back to report they’d completed it – every time polite and patient. We think that the management in Chia Laguna is nice and respectful to every one of their staff members, which is very important – people are happy to work there and it is visible in everything they do. I’ve never seen any staff member walking around without a purpose. Everyone looked busy with their job in hand yet they all felt as one well organised team. Overall, Chia Laguna is a beautiful resort and we are definitely planning to come back. However, these are some points for improvement: I didn’t particularly like the sauna – the atmosphere there was a little bland and cold, different from the rest of the resort. There were also no umbrellas on the roof above the sun beds next to the pools. It looked very bare, no flowers or anything to accessorise the place. Water in the pools should not have had any chlorine – nowadays there are many other reliable methods to disinfect. The bar in the sauna should be offering more than lemon water and not-so-fresh herbal tea, things like smoothies, organic yogurt ice-creams, fruit salads, variety of teas, as well as a must-have – some nice relaxing music which would elevate the mood. (the silence there seemed threatening!) Also, if it is possible, there should be a pool, or a couple of pools, with sea water anywhere on the territory of the resort for the days when the sea is too stormy to swim in. We do recommend this place to everyone with a need to rest and recover and especially to those with a positive attitude as to protect the lovely people working there for us all.
So disapointed- Not worth the money
The amount that is requested for the rooms, food is not at all worth the money. The quality is just not there, not in the rooms, not in the buffet. We shared our disappointment with manager and reception... both could not care less.
