Lahad Datu to the Danum Valley

You’ll take an early flight from Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu on the east coast of Sabah, where there’s a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge beside the Danum River. After lunch, you’ll set off on a trek into the jungle that is home to a myriad of animal life, including orangutans, silver and red leaf monkeys, Asian elephants, tarsiers and slow loris following a nature trail and the 360-metre-long treetop canopy walkway. Day 2

Danum Valley

Your jungle exploration continues, with a day of trekking and tubing ahead. After breakfast, you’ll trek to Coffin Cliff to visit the ancient burial site where wooden coffins are wedged into the cliffside. You’ll head back to the Borneo Rainforest Lodge for lunch, then return to the jungle to enjoy tubing down the Danum River, floating on a large inflatable ring. If the conditions allow, there’s another walk after dark in search of nocturnal animals tonight.

Day 3

Danum Valley

After breakfast, you’ll trek up to the pretty cascades of Fairy Falls and Serpent Falls for a scenic view, spotting wildlife along the way and listening to the sounds of the jungle around you. You’ll return to the Lodge for lunch. Then, the afternoon is yours to explore as you wish. Perhaps you’ll take another guided trek along the Segama River or use this time to relax.

Day 4

Danum Valley to Lahad Datu

Your morning is free to spend as you choose. Your options include birdwatching on the canopy walkway or joining a guided walk along the Hornbill or Segama Trails. After a final lunch at the lodge, you’ll check out and transfer to Lahad Datu airport for your flight back to Kota Kinabalu.
