An amazing resort!!
Everyone was welcoming, efficient and friendly, particularly Sade and Stefan in reception who were most helpful. The restaurants are brilliant. The beach and snorkelling exceptional, lovely cabana sun-beds, drinks brought to the beach, convenient water bus linking the resorts. The rooms are well equipped and very comfortable.
A gem of a hotel
What a wonderful gem of a hotel. A small piece of paradise. Excellent that the motor used water sports were included. We had an ocean view room 320 it was directly over the sea, the sound of the waves put us to sleep every night. The rooms were clean with lots of wardrobe space and a very comfortable bed. The rooms were all in small blocks accessed by walks through the amazing gardens. The 2 restaurants were good, choice was slightly limited but the food was excellent. There are various other hotels that you can eat in, we went to Fusion at Waves which was lovely. The water taxi was a good way to get around between the hotels. The staff were all mainly friendly although there were some new staff in the restaurants that didn’t seem to care. On odd occasions the food was cold and one time I found a plastic wrapper in my meal, the chef was supposed to come and see me but that didn’t happen. The reception staff could not do enough for you, they will endeavour to do whatever you request. There are plenty of sun beds on the beach so no need to get up at silly o’clock to reserve one., the cocktails at the cave bar are fabulous. We would love to visit again and would definitely recommend a visit.
Good but could be so much more
The hotel is in a great spot probably has the best spots for the beach out of the elegant hotels , they just need to do more with it feels like it’s running about 50% of its potential. 99% of the staff are great some are grumpy as hell and seems like you are nuisance to them but on the whole they are brilliant . They have covid rules in place with masks , but seemed to depend who you were if you had to follow them or not and a lot of the staff didn’t wear them properly anyway ( but I wouldn’t want to work with those on my face in that heat so I understand it ) Rooms are nice but as must have said could do with an update but you don’t spend much time in them anyway . Food is say on the whole very average , with one or two good dishes , they could/should do more local dishes, a lot of the combinations are very confused . They do a great brownie at the drifters though !!! The dine around scheme is a good touch we ate at the oriental at waves and it was also very confused and a bit rubbish , tamarind we had a lovely meal but only ate there once . We did a nice little tour to swim with turtles with Dwayne from the beach for 50usd and hired a car for a few days The beach has free water sports (apart from jet ski) which is a great touch by the hotel Also went to st Thomas one of the villages and drank and ate at de thirsty lizard rum bar which is quite new and the food was great and local ! I heard the hotel is to close for a refurb at some point , it could be fantastic with a few tweaks .
Compact and Quiet
Wow. This was my 4th visit to barbados and I wanted to try out a different hotel to previous visits, and I think I found a little gem! I liked the fact this is smaller than others I've stayed at, and it feels quite quaint and certainly full of character. There are a lot of steps as others have mentioned, but this was not an issue to me. The gardens are lovely and pathways meander through to reach the beach, restaurants etc. I had booked a garden room, but my view was amazing. I had the sea view also and it was filled with sunshine late afternoon, which I love. Huge bed, very clean, large area for wardrobes, dressing table, shower etc. I also loved the fact that I had a lovely big chair on balcony for those pm sun rays! There are 2 restaurants, Drifters is lovely at night, and it stays open even if the heavens open, big parasols keep you dry, but the feet might get wet. Reflections was the breakfast rest, and also evenings. both were usually open during the day too. I liked the food, buffets were slightly less attractive, except breakfast. Lovely beach. kept very clean. A storm one night brought in a lot of seaweed, but it was cleared. Nice Cabanas on the beach, give you your own shade if required. The pool area splits into 3 levels, all featured lots of loungers and some parasols. This doubled as the area to sit out at night as tables and chairs were there too. I found everybody really friendly, staff, and guests alike, I think being maybe smaller people mix more, or its a little bit of fairy dust that's been sprinkled around. If I was pushed for a negative, I didn't much like the look of the grey boulders that surround the 3 pool areas and waterfall bar. Bottom pool was fairly tight for loungers, and I think possibly if boulders were taken away the whole area would open up, be easier to get around, pool would be bigger and it would look more modern and crisp. This is of course, only my observation. Heard the rumours of a possible refurbishment, would be interested to see what they do, but either way, I wouldn't hesitate to revisit this magical this haven. Loved it!
Another great stay at Crystal Cove
This was our second visit to Crystal Cove in the past 12 months, and we enjoyed it just as much second time around! The resort is in our opinion the most "fun" of the Elegant Hotels chain, with a beautiful beach, multiple pools and two good quality restaurants offering both buffet and A La Carte options. We loved dinners at Drifters, sat right on the ocean, and spending the days lounging with views of the beautiful Caribbean. Cocktails are always great, and the rooms while a little old-style well maintained, but you're probably not going to spend much time there! We also really enjoyed the dine around programme, and had a dinner at Treasure Beach and Tamarind during our stay and Waves on our previous visit, which is a nice scene change especially if you have a longer visit. But the part that makes Crystal Cove so special is the staff - everyone we have interacted with has always been so wonderfully kind and genuine. Special mentions on our most recent visit to Kathy in reflections who definitely kept us on our toes, Jensel in the bar who is so friendly and easy to talk to, and Antonette on reception who makes sure everything you need happens! But in general a huge thanks to all the staff. We can't wait to come back next year for our third visit!
