Might soon be great, but now just average
DISCLAIMER: I visited in August 2020 and this island is still very badly hit by the lack of tourists. Lots of hotels have had to close down and other have to do what they can to save money. My visit here was good. But sadly feel short of the 5 star experience I was hoping for. The breakfast here was very bad. There was literally no options! Just some rice soup, bread and fruit. Nothing more. To compare I was staying at Sala the day before just down the road, and they had an amazing a la carte breakfast menu, that truly was 5 stars. The pool villa I had was ok. A bit old but very relaxing, big and cosy. Maybe even to big as I spent almost 20min trying to find the control for the AC in the living room 😉. It was hidden behind a fake wall that could have been marked or shown during check in. Other than that the room was good. But there was one big thing missing, in room drink menu. When you have a big pool villa like this the minibar isn’t enough. You need a menu to be able to order wine, beer bucket or what you want. Not only food. I had to go to TOPS to buy some rosé wine. At least the hotel could provide champagne ice bucket. But for a five star experience I want to be able to order a bottle of rosé wine to my room. Next thing that needs to be improved. The hotel has a deal with a motorbike rental shop so you can rent a bike. This is great service but the price is not reasonable. 600THB for 1 day with a 150cc scooter when the other shops on the island charge 350. My recommendation is to change supplier or renegotiate a better price, 450 maximum. Let me end my review with two positives. Firstly the staff. You where all amazing! Nothing wrong there. Friendly and helpful all the time. Secondly, during my visit I could see that most rooms where going through renovation. Even the old sound systems where being pulled out. So the rooms might be much better soon. I would love to come back in the future when the rooms are renovated and breakfast menu amended. This hotel have potential. It’s just not living up to it right now.
Enjoyed staying at Melati. Rooms were large, modern and spotless. Pool area was beautiful. Staff very friendly. Good free shuttle to Chaweng. Only criticism would be the price of the drinks at the bar (evidenced by the fact the bar was empty until Happy Hour!)
Stayed for originally one night but added another as it was so lovely. Were in the mixed dorm;clean, great air con and very quiet. Pool is lovely and very relaxing also. Great location, away from the resorts but 5 min walk to bars, food and the main walking street. Owners and staff (and the cats) couldn't be more helpful, will be returning!
A slice of paradise
We stayed at the melati resort for a friends wedding, we had the most amazing stay and the wedding night was amazing from the great service, food, drinks it was all perfect. Would highly recommend if your looking to relax and recharge the batteries by the pool or beach. Enjoy!
Melati Resort is the place to be if a relaxing beach holiday is what you are after. Quiet and out of the chaos of Bo Phut or Chaweng. A walk into town if you need some local flavour is a 20 minute trip. The resort is everything you expect. Great staff, awesome surroundings, beautiful pools and beach. We had a pool villa suite. Not cheap but worth it. Comfortable, clean and relaxed. Welcome to Thailand.
