Since the Michelin Guide first shone a light on the Grand Hotel Residencia Restaurant in 2016, it has become something of a gastronomic destination. The Portuguese-tiled dining room is a cheery spot, with canary yellow and royal blue décor, but for the best seats in the house, head to the outdoor terrace to dine against a backdrop of mountain-rimmed dunes. Here, you can linger over innovative dishes from the a la carte menu – sea bream tartare, perhaps, or sautéed cardinal prawns with creamy rice and liquorice – and feast on fresh barbecue fare on select days. A sommelier is on hand to share advice on food and wine pairings, and can recommend a selection of Gran Canarian wines.
Elsewhere, snack on sizzling plates of tapas at the Pool Bar or, if you have a sugar craving, opt for the made-to-order waffles that are part of their sweet menu. The Piano Bar is a vibrant space, with sunshine-yellow bar stools and blue-grey armchairs, for live music and creative cocktails – don’t miss the Seaside Mojito, a mix of rum, lime juice, elderflower syrup, mint and cava. And for the morning after the night before, head to the breakfast buffet for freshly cooked omelettes or a selection of local cheeses, meats, seasonal fruits, breads and condiments (try the tasty cactus jam).
If you’re of the ‘variety is the spice of life’ mind set, the Cross-Dining option allows you to also eat at the main restaurant of sister hotel Seaside Palm Beach. Plus there’s the chance to dine at gourmet tapas haunt La Bodega or Mediterranean-leaning Esencia, both located at the Seaside Palm Beach, for a small supplement.
Esencia and La Bodega have seasonal openings.
