The Olivar Suites is a spectacular hotel. I have stayed in many 5*+ hotels over the years and this has to be one of the best I have ever stayed in. We arrived at the hotel by private transfer which the hotel had arranged. It is like arriving into an oasis of calm relaxation. Every design detail is perfect, even the large pictures in the reception area are replicated as smaller versions in the rooms. It has a modern design but they managed to keep a lot of the original olive trees that are all around the resort. The old olive mill now houses the beach bar and shop, it is a stunningly restored building. I stayed in a junior suite with a private pool. The first room we were put in, was close to a bar (outside the hotel) that has music playing until the early hours. We spoke to the reception team and they found us another suite away from the bar and moved everything for us. And it was no trouble to any of the staff assisting us, they even checked in with us the following day to ensure it was to our satisfaction, it was! If you can stretch to a suite with a private pool, do it! It is worth every penny. The pools aren’t big but it is so nice being able to lounge in your garden and pool when you don’t fancy being near other people. The main pool is right next to the hotels private beach area. All are beautifully maintained and the staff are very attentive, there is a call system on all the umbrellas, makes it so easy to order food and drinks. The sun beds are very comfortable, it is very relaxing. It is a little rocky getting into the sea but very manageable and you can always buy beach shoes from the local supermarket if its to much for you. The breakfast was delicious, hot food is ordered from an a la carte menu, in addition there is a cold buffet. Everything was very healthy, there was always a great selection of local cheeses and meats, fruit, the tastiest avocado, protein balls, smoothies, there really is something for everyone. Everything we had from the hot and cold selection was delicious, we could not fault it. One morning we decided to have a floating breakfast. You have to order what you want the day before but it was delivered and set up in our pool on time. If you are staying on a bed and breakfast basis, you do not have to pay for the breakfast, just the floating element of it. It was 30 euros and so much fun, not something you do every day. The food is very good in the hotel but I would recommend getting out and going to the many nearby tavernas (see my other reviews). They all serve fresh delicious Greek food at incredibly reasonable prices, but you need to book a table in advance to guarantee eating when you want to. The hotel is very conveniently situated, there is a supermarket within seconds of the hotel, along with a number of bars and restaurants within 5 minutes. You could not ask for a better location. The hotel has is a small gym and a lovely spa. I had a massage and the therapist was fantastic. I felt so relaxed after my treatment. The best part of the hotel is the staff, they are exceptional! Every person we encountered was happy, friendly and appeared like they really enjoyed their job. They are all clearly very proud of this beautiful hotel. I can not recommend a stay at the Olivar Suites enough, it is a very special hotel.
Beautiful 5* hotel…..
Having worked in travel for the last 30 years I knew we were in for a treat when we arrived very late to the hotel to be greeted by the 5* star smell and very friendly staff who sped us to our room in a buggy and delivered a fruit platter and a bottle of chilled wine. The hotel is beautiful and has been designed really well, we had a 2 bedroom suite with private pool and it was perfect. Whoever has done the planting and design of the grounds needs applauding as its beautiful. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, I’ve not experienced this level of attention and service since I stopped at the Ritz Carlton in Dubai. The cocktails in the bar are gorgeous and are definitely made by staff who know how to make a great cocktail, the staff recommend ones they think you’ll like after getting to know your tastes, they are priced between 9 to 15 euros depending on your choice. You have a button on your sunbed that you press if you’d like a drink bringing to you and the staff are great and very attentive, an iced coffee is 4.5 euros. The breakfast is lovely, you can order a la carte off a menu where there is eggs, bacon, omelettes, French toast and there is also a buffet too. We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was lovely, the tables by the pool are especially nice. A few nights a week they had live music and a dj which was very classy and relaxing. We ate out around the village on an evening and had some gorgeous food, rose garden was especially nice and archontiko which is set up the hill, the hotel will book you a taxi and make you a reservation but book early especially for the tables overlooking the outstanding view, the food was beautiful and the owners were very accommodating and great hosts, we also ate in mermaid and fisherman’s haunt which both have beautiful views over the sea and great seafood. We did a boat trip to paxos which cost about 40 euros per person and was a great day out, you can get a bus into corfu town for 2.25 euros each way , there is a also a boat tour which goes in on an evening a couple of times a week. If you want a beautiful hotel with great service and high end rooms but like to eat out and see the place your visiting I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Heaven on earth
From reception to the room, to everyone saying kalimera when they greet you in the morning to the amazing pool and restaurant. Staying at The Olivar Suites is a dream. Everyone is incredibly friendly, which trickles down from the top where the hotel manager Ioannis clearly leads by example. The restaurant has an amazing and fresh menu, with refreshing options and even an entirely vegan menu. The dishes are impressive and very tasty. The rooms are luxurious and incredibly clean. Went to the spa today for a deep tissue massage and feel incredibly relaxed. A true holiday experience where everything is perfectly taken care of.
FLYA restaurant, wonderful evening
We enjoyed an excellent meal at the Flya restaurants. As non-hotel residents were treated wonderfully by the staff. The food was truly wonderful, the service first-class and the setting tranquil. All the courses lived up to our expectations, Oyster, Cerviche, Lemon Prawns as starters were fresh and set our taste buds up for the mains of Lemon chicken, Dry-aged beef and fish that had the crispiest skin! We also shared desserts and enjoyed a delicious Greek Sauvignon Blanc. The night finished with cocktails at the beach bar overlooking the sea. A perfect end to a wonderful evening.
Very good but just short of 5*
This hotel is amazing and probably the most relaxing break we have ever had but just a couple of things that would stop me giving 5 stars. Would probably be 4.5 if I could. We came at the beginning of June for our mini moon. The room had a private pool which was perfect and the room itself was lovely. We found the breakfast to be a little limited and would have preferred more choice. We also found the beds in the rooms to be very hard. I love a firm mattress but this was too much. We also found the bar and restaurant to be very overpriced. There are lots of choices for places to eat and drink so we could go elsewhere but we still would have liked the convenience to eat and drink at the hotel but even for a nice hotel it was very expensive. Despite this, everything else was lovely, took was very clean and looked after and it was so nice to have our own space and just relax as a couple. We would return if the price was a little lower. For what we paid we would expect perfection!
