Beautiful Location - Would loved to have stayed longer
Travelling with friends we all enjoyed our stay at UNAHOTELS. The way that the hotel has been built into the rock is very well-done, which means that you have a great view over the bay, plus the walk to the private beach and restaurant is through a beautifully lit tunnel. The pool area has a fantastic view of the ocean as does the restaurant, looking over the bay towards Mount Etna. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and both were very good, with a large breakfast spread on offer. Not within the control of the hotel of course, but one negative of the private beach was that there were quite a lot of jellyfish during our stay. However, the staff were quickly on hand with the soothing cream when one of our party was stung. The hotel room was a little dated in appearance but large in size, even having its own suitcase room. Despite having stayed in a number of hotels, this was a first for us and we really noticed the benefit of not having to clamber over suitcases in the bedroom! The service was pretty good from the porter and valet for parking, although the latter was problematic as all the spaces were taken and we had to pay a small supplement to park elsewhere. The official car parking area is also very tight, making it quite a challenge to park and you can easily see cars being damaged (never good if you are hiring a car). But overall we really enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.
Stunning location, great amenities
We stayed for two nights but I wish we had stayed longer. Staff were brilliant, room was faultless and the swimming/ spa pool excellent. With wonderful views in every direction and the complimentary coach up the (steep) hills into Taormina was very welcome, but don't forget to book). Cable car back down the hill was also good fun but the 20 minute walk back along the road in the dark isn't everyone's cup of tea. A great play to stay and yes, we wished we had stayed for 3 nights rather than just two.
I've been here with my girlfriend for a marriage proposal. I must stay that personnel has been more than welcoming and friendly since the very first moment and for the whole stay! they made us live an unforgettable week-end! The hotel is in a great location with its private beach and swimming pool which are extraordinary as well along with the view you may admire from both of them and from the rooms. we could reserve the beach for the evening and it's an amazing and private location for a proposal. would really suggest it! will definitely come back again.
Had a lizard in first room, then a dead cockroach in the second room
The first room I got smelled like cigarettes, and I saw a small lizard crawl around the floor before disappearing under the bed. I told the receptionist, and they asked if I wanted another room to which I said yes. Then we went into the same room they had available, and there was a dead cockroach on the bathroom floor which was already dead. So I guess someone had stepped on it, but forgot to clean it up? Overall not a good experience. The hotel was outdated and felt super empty/eerie, and again, there was a dead cockroach in my room.
The hotel, staff, features, resort, spa, beach and pool areas are all worth going for. This resort is secluded and offers a great level of privacy if you are after a secluded stay. Buffet breakfast served daily has a great variety and you will not get bored of the options on offer. The onsite restaurants are limited but we especially enjoyed the La Scogliera Restaurant on our last evening there, by the coastal front with Mount Etna in the backdrop. We would definitely visit here again.
