Serenity Authentic Glamping
A two-minute stroll from one of the Riviera Maya’s most glorious beaches, this intimate eco-glamping resort offers tranquility and comfort in an unspoiled natural setting.
Imagine a cross between an African safari camp and a Silk Road caravanserai cast adrift in a patch of jungle fringing a pristine Mexican beach and you’ll have a good idea of Serenity Authentic Glamping Tulum. With just a few dozen tents and the occasional thatched pavilion, the buildings are designed to blend into the landscape – and they do, barely puncturing the canopy of greenery that stretches as far as the eye can see. But ‘unobtrusive’ doesn’t mean ‘boring’, and there are plenty of creative touches that you’ll notice as you drift around the grounds. There are reclaimed Moroccan doors where you wouldn’t expect them and ornate metal lanterns to illuminate the paths that wind through the garden.
Rooms
The 31 tents are set in tropical gardens that are so densely planted you can barely see beyond your own deck. Inside, the décor is decidedly rustic chic and individual, with retro or locally made wooden furniture, Asian metal light fittings and quirky touches such as giant shells for taps in the screened-off bathrooms complete with luxurious rainfall showers. Made just for two, the Harmony King and Harmony Bliss have a king-size bed and a large hammock outside for daytime snoozes, but the latter also has an open-air spa bath for extra indulgence. There are three options for families or groups, depending on their size: the Harmony Family which sleeps four or the slightly larger Harmony Royal Family with room for six.

Facilities
Stretched out under a huge canvas awning beside the pool, Mystic offers a cold buffet breakfast. Lunch and dinner is an eclectic selection of Mexican and international dishes, from pizza to Veracruz-style mahi mahi. And if you just want a drink, the bar menu includes everything from coffee and smoothies to cocktails and Champagne. Guests also have access to the restaurant and bar at the Serenity Beach Club.

This is very much a place to chill out and reconnect with the natural world, and the handful of carefully chosen facilities reflect that. There’s also that wonderfully curving outdoor pool, designed for cool contemplation rather than lengths and overlooked by the resort’s appealingly laidback bar/restaurant. The biggest draw during the day, though, is likely to be the soft white sand of Xpu Ha beach just moments away, where you can play in the clear turquoise water between cold drinks on your sun lounger at the stylish Serenity beach club.
