Awesome except for the other guests!
Finally made it to Palm Island after thinking about it for several years. My husband and I generally prefer to rent a home and enjoy the solitude. Palm Island looked small enough,so we thought we would be okay. After the long 2 day journey to get to the island, we were greeted on the dock by Katie and team (and what an awesome team she has) and glasses of rum punch. Heed the warning to pack some essentials in your carry-on as my luggage didn't make the trip and didn't arrive until the next day at 5:00pm. Katie and staff kindly provided me with a shirt, toothbrush and deodorant. I luckily had a bathing suit so I was good for the next day. Our stay wasn't as great as it could have been due to several of the guests who arrived when we did. This group of fellow Americans seemed to need to be the focus of attention at all times. Overbearing, loud, acting like a bunch of kids on spring break, they were extremely irritating. I assumed that palm Island would be a quiet place to relax. It was, just not at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nothing to do with the resort or the wonderful staff, just this small group of people. We enjoyed riding the bicycles around the island once or twice a day and climbing one of the hills to get a better view of the island. We Loved renting Hammock #4 for the day, highly recommend. Interesting that altough we had the rope up and our bicycles were parked at the entrance, a couple actually climbed under the rope and started to join us. I awkwardly explained that we had rented the hammock for the day, and "yes, we thought they should leave"....weird. Guests who have not been to Palm Island should also keep in mind that this is not a typical, larger all inclusive where food is available round the clock. Breakfast, Lunch and dinner are served but there are no snacks or anything the rest of the time. I really thought there would be fruit or cookies or something, but no. There is a weird little afternoon tee that has little cucumber sandwiches and cookies but only at 4:00. I was glad I had packed some snacks just for the long time between lunch and dinner. I am diabetic so this is something that concerned me. Katie, I wish you would check into the state of disrepair the bicycles are in. This is really a highlite of the island and most of the bikes have flat tires, chains missing, baskets broken. Doesn't seem like it would take much to make them in a little better shape. Food was good, not great, as so many other people have stated. The beauty of this little island, in my opinion, is the staff. WOW, these amazing people work so hard and are so friendly. My husband loved the drinks and was amazed at the amount of alcohol in each. It was a treat to be interact with the lovely people of this area. We only booked a palm view room and probably would have upgraded to one of the beach front rooms further down the beach. I would say, just pay the little extra and get the ocean view. All in all, it was a nice trip the few guests, not all by any means, really ruined it for us!
This resort is the best. Major shout out to Dervon, Johnny, Joe, and Kenroy. The staff are very attentive. This place is paradise and the food is fresh and well prepared. If you’re looking to detach from the world, this is the place. No internet in the room, no television, and no phone. The perfect getaway for couples to reconnect and just talk. Enjoyed the resort so much that Joe help me to extend my stay by a day. It was certainly worth it. Can’t say enough about Katie’s staff. They made our stay awesome. Thanks Palm Island. You’re the best.
A peaceful slice of heaven
Palm Island is an amazing place to visit. The beaches are beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. The seclusion is complete with less than 100 guests on the island being "full occupancy". Most days, we felt like we had the beach to ourselves and if you venture to the less developed side of the island you will have the beach and hammock to yourself. Staff was always helpful and friendly. You see many of the same staff members at breakfast, lunch and dinner. They provide good service and are always willing to assist in catering to your needs. If you want nightlife, jet skis, parasailing and an "always on" atmosphere, Palm Island isn't your spot. If you want to rejuvenate, reconnect with a spouse, and clear your mind, then Palm Island fits the bill. The Yannis will take you to amazing snorkeling, the Pink Lady will sail you around paradise, the spa will blissfully relax you. The pace of the island will refocus you to your core. My wife and I loved the resort, the staff and the island. What a great experience!
An incredible vacation!!
This island provides the most meaningful rest you will ever get. Bring your reading, swing in hammocks overlooking the sea, eat great food, enjoy 5 star service by all. I have been all over the world, the is the most restful vacation I have ever had. Bring your spouse and enjoy closeness. Getting their is a challenge due to its remoteness but it is worth every minute of travel.
Palm Island exceeded our expectations
We recently returned from an incredible trip to Palm Island! This trip was a surprise for my husband in celebration of our 30th anniversary. Once he got over the initial shock of no TVs in the room, we were in relaxation mode. Everything was perfect - from the staff, the food, the weather, the beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery… it was incredible! Getting to Palm Island and the resort itself reminded my husband and I of Tahiti, and some of the other guests who had been to Tahiti agreed. The small size of the resort gave us a chance to really get to know some of the other guests, and we were happy to have met new friends that live near us. I would recommend doing the private picnic lunch at Hammock 4. If you're wondering what's included (I had a hard time finding out before we got there), they'll give you a menu to make your selections. Our picnic lunch included a fruit plate, chicken fingers, ham and cheese sandwiches, chocolate cake, a cooler with beer and water, and I brought my bottle of sparkling wine from our room (or you can pay $30 for a bottle of wine). We also had a romantic dinner in the gazebo on the beach which we really enjoyed. You are given 3 menus to choose from the day before your dinner. You must get the harmonizing massage. Wow, it was incredible! You'll need to watch your personal belongings though. I left one of my coverups at the pool and it was gone by the time I realized it. The next day I saw one of the guests wearing it (it was the same color and it was much too small for her). Bring bug spray because the no see ums will get you. Thanks to everyone at Palm Island for one of the best vacations we've had. We look forward to returning soon!
