Perfect for all Dietary Requirements
Food: Being vegan we struggled to find a hotel this year however we made the perfect choice. Though the food was not labelled as vegan, all foods were labelled with allergy ingredients. When we entered the buffet area Costas would approach us and point out to us what was suitable and what was not where it came to foods such as vegetables which may have contained butter. I could not fault his service and he went way above to help us. Grounds: The area was green and maintained and was colourful with lovely flowers and the area was large which made good for going for walks. Gym The gym was small but adequately equipped for your stay. Due to Covid we were only allowed1 household at a time. Sanitisers and clean towels were provided. Pool and Beach: The beach was pebbly on the sand area as you enter the water, but on entering it was completely clear. We read reviews and bought shoes for the beach in case but they were not needed. COVID Very clean and masks were worn throughout indoors. Food was served wholly by the staff and we did not handle any scoops or plates at all. Temperatures were taken before entering the dining area. We felt very safe. Reception staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Would recommend.
It was our first time to kos. We was both very surprised to how pretty the island was. During covid things can be stressful and the hotel made sure to make it less stressful and to make sure you have the most relaxing holiday. The hotel are doing such a fantastic job keeping everyone safe and also making sure your still having a good holiday. Whilst we was there it felt like a normal holiday we had a great time. The staff are very helpful and very polite. The hotel grounds are well kept and really pretty with all the flowers. we both loved the evening meals and also liked every night it was a different theme. Our room was lovely, big and spacious.
The Right Hotel at the Right Time
This was our first visit to the island of Kos and I must say we picked the perfect hotel in the perfect resort in these uncertain times. We had a junior suite which was lovely, clean and spacious. The only minor criticism of the room would be that the shower needs upgrading. Our balcony overlooked the main pool. The pool area is very spacious with plenty of sun loungers socially distanced apart. You can order your drinks/snacks via an app and a waiter will bring it to your sunbed. The food was fantastic and the staff couldn't do enough for you. This may have been our first visit to the Astir Odysseus Kos Resort & Spa but it certainly won't be the last!
Family holiday at half term
I am writing this review after a holiday at this hotel. I was amazed this is rated a 5* the hotel pools and surrounding yes, but not the rooms or the facilities. We stayed here in half term week 23rd sun to sun 1st Nov, not expecting the hotel to partially close on the sat morning 2 days before we left! We arrived to the hotel and our room was delayed, that was fine we filled our time. When we reached our room the 2 children’s beds were parallel in the lobby area of the room and you couldn’t even get out of their beds without stepping over the nearest bed, at age 11-13 this caused nothing but arguing. We raised our concerns that this wasn’t 5* and requested a call from the lady manageress on reception, we waited 24 hours and that never came! We thought well we’ll have to make do! We decided on the Monday we’d book the restaurant which was complimentary, to be told sorry not spaces and we couldn’t visit at all during our stay, this only 18 hrs after checking in!!!! Again thinking oh well we’ll just deal with that too!! Day3 was a rainy day....the balcony had a latted roof and birds had poo’d on this over the year but it was never cleaned so when it rained the poo poured through the lats, it was horrendous falling on our heads! I lost my rag and demanded the manageress cam to our room to view this. The sent a cleaner and asked us to meet with the manageress. We god an upgraded sea view room which was better but I think it should have been the standard we should have gotten at the start. The canteen was nice and staff friendly. A bit of a nightmare waiting to be served though as staff had to do everything for you do your meal wasn’t as warm once you’d waited so long to get a meal together ready to eat! This couldn’t be helped. Saturday came and the gardener started trimming a meer 46 hedges dividing the rooms around the pool at 8am in the morning with chainsaws, not the day in peace in the sun lounger which I’d hoped for it went on til 1pm! It was so loud. The bistro restaurant was the snack bar, great if your kids want a full on fish meal or cauliflower and broccoli however a snack bar could be sandwiches or maybe pizza or something a bit more child oriented, nothing, so we had to buy off the menus each time. The snack bar wasn’t a snack bar! There was no music on our last night, no entertainment or music in the car area it was like sat in an airport waiting to go home. I felt I was waiting to go home 36 hours before I actually did. The hotel was quite clearly cleaning things down for closure on the Monday and they didn’t hide the fact that we was out staying our welcome. We felt after complaining that our cards were marked and that we got stern looks from the manageress kath on reception. Not a holiday I’d hoped for after a horrible year. I most definitely wouldn’t return, you are by far not getting what other 5 star hotels offer. Don’t go!
We visited the Astir Odysseus hotel the week before the end of the season in October. Reception staff were brilliant they explained and downloaded the app for ordering drinks to your sunbed and book your meal times this idea was fantastic for Covid restictions .The hotel is beautiful with lovely colourful arches as you walk to your room. We were here for a week for our 47th Anniversary and the wifes birthday. We were upgraded to a sea view room and a bottle of champagne in our room when we arrived which was a lovely surprise. Food was lovely with plenty of choice and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment was excellent with a show most nights, just a pity they finished on the Wednesday to go home. The pools were also amazing, right on the beach and was enormous. This hotel is probably one of the best we have ever been in and would definetly go back. Thank you for such a lovely holiday to all the staff at the Astir Odyssey.
