We arrived @ 2.30am however we were checked in & taken to our room by golf cart & in bed by 2.45. We stayed in a maisonette with a shared pool with next door, it was spotless, comfy & spacious. We had 2 minibars, one downstairs & one upstairs which we’re replenished daily. The food & choice was awesome, something for everyone & different every day. Although it’s a help yourself buffet we were never queuing too long & it’s a great touch that your drinks are served by waiter/waitresses therefore reducing people traffic in the main restaurant getting up for drinks. The staff were always attentive & polite. The BBQ restaurant at lunchtime was great with plenty of choice. On a evening we always used the main bar & enjoyed the quality of drinks & the service was excellent ( nice touch with the peanuts ). The evening entertainment was ok. The disco down at the beach bar was good. We’ve stayed at quite a few 4/5 star all inclusive hotels but this stood out as the best, so much so we have booked to go back in 2020 👍
Amazing holiday in a truly 5 star resort
We cannot fault anything about the holiday we had in the Astir Odysseus. We travelled late September (27th think) and stayed for two weeks, so we knew the holiday season was coming to an end. We booked a family room through Tui as this was the only accomdation options available at the time we booked. Though only two of us, the extra space the family room gave us was helpful. If its not clear from pictures, as you enter the room, there is a sofa bed on the right which would easily be ample for an young adult or children. It also has its on air con in this section and there is doors that seperate this section from the main bedroom. The wardrobe was easily enough for two, so easily stretch to three. The main bedroom is large with a sofa and ours lead onto a balcony that looked over the main pool near the hotel. We stayed in room 222. Would recommend this to anyone. The room was great, though had a few occassion to get maintennance support for the air con but was fixed in hours of us raising with reception. Room was cleaned spotlessley every day with the beds made. Couldn't ask for more. We primarily stayed around the main pool and I guess possibly being the time of year but it was so nice not having to get up at crack of dawn to save a sun bed. We would just leisurely sure beds after breakfast nearly every day after 10 am. Relaxing. And even more relaxing, downloaded the app and was able to order drinks to your sun bed. We found at best it took upto 5 mins or less to arrive. Excellent. We booked with All inclusive, so a good range of cocktails were available and made from scratch in the main bar (think beach bar may have had pre-made cocktails but still pretty good). Local beer on tap was ok but i preferred the local bottle beer, still included but less gassy. Also they had gluten free beer, which I preferred. Stripped them dry within a few days. But bless them, restoked within a day or so. Onto that, bar staff were brilliant, attentive and got to know a few of them (Stellios and a one I name Roy Keane) who were great to have conversations and always genuinly happy to serve. And if you want something different they have a range of craft beers and cocktails no on the all inclusive list you could buy. Yes, they were 5-7 Euros a go but reasonable if you leave them as treats. Food was excellent. So much choice and every day something different if you dared to try, though there was regular dishes (pizza, pasta, chips) and vast ranges of salads. They had a great display of olive oils - over 25 bottle or so, which was great to try with various breads. And the deserts, we've been to a number of greek islands and hotels, and the majority serve what we regard as puff and fluff - they look nice but no substance. Astir Odysseus you have broken the mould. Chocolate that tastes like chocolate, patisseries with substance. Brilliant. You could choose to eat inside but lots of outside options which we preferred and meant it didn't feel like canteen like other places we have stayed at. The restaurent at the beach was great for lunch, as they continue to serve later. Choice is more limited compared to the main restaurant, with freshly cooked barbecue dishes, some salads, chips and normally a rice and/or pasta dish. We ventured to the pool by the beach a few times. This was a lot busier but nice. As a location, sure its a bit more remote - there isn't immediate bars or restaurants around but its literally only 4 miles or so from Kos town, which is only about 2 euros to get to. We hired a car for about 3 days and got to travel north and south of the island, so there is so much more to explore. We loved the island and the people. We will be back and very happy to return back to Astir Odysseus
Truly stunning hotel in Kos.
Having been moved to this hotel, as our original booked hotel decided at 2 weeks notice to close early!, we were concerned about what to expect. On arrival any concerns we had dissapeared. We stayed for 1 week to celebrate our daughter's 18th birthday. Our rooms had fantastic panoramic sea views, also overlooking the huge pool, which was steps away from the beach. The whole hotel was immaculately clean and had a modern feel throughout. Meal times were a feast, with so much choice of food from breakfast to dinner, of a very high standard. The hotel is in a quiet location, but there is plenty to do within the hotel. There are fantastic walks along the beach for several kms in both directions. What really stood out was the professionalism and friendliness of all of the staff, who ensured our special holiday was flawless and one to always remember. A real 5 star experience, with a week of complete sun & 27 degrees just to top it off!
2 weeks in paradise
I’ve just returned from two weeks at this hotel and I was so sad to leave! Everything was perfect. The resort is stunning. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. The food is great, and the drinks are branded. Best of all are the staff who were all extremely lovely, polite and helpful but I must give a special thank you to Stella and Tonin for taking care of us in the main restaurant, as well as Irene for being our Barmaid! 2 weeks flew by, my partner and I both joked to each other that had there been a small kitchen in our room we could have lived there haha! I will definitely be returning in the future. I have not stopped recommending the hotel to all my friends and family since returning. Thank you Astir Odysseus for a perfect holiday.
Lovely and relaxing
We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is a little isolated but it has plenty of amenities and you can catch the local bus to Kos Town for 2 Euros outside the complex gates. The hotel was spotless and very airy, it has large grounds. We had a shared swim out pool that was huge, although a little cold. The room was very clean with a seating area and a large terrace with a patio set and loungers. The room was about half way between the main hotel and the sea.If you have a room over looking the sea near the beach then expect a long walk to the main restaurant. Most rooms are off the main walk way leading down to the beach, some overlook the beach and sea and others are around the pool at the main building. There are several pools, the main rectangular one near the main building and a very large free formed shape pool near the beach, plus an indoor one in the Spa.There are 3 bars, one overlooking the beach, the main lobby bar and one at the out door theatre. The service at the lobby bar was very good but the beach/pool bar could be improved for a 5 star hotel.Drinks are ordered by an app rather than staff coming round, that was a bit slow at times. The price of drinks is on the high side so we would recommend going all inclusive. The staff were very friendly especially the Argo restaurant, where we had lunch most days and an A la Carte meal that was excellent. The main restaurant is in the main building and can get very busy, so time your meal , we went early for breakfast around 8-8.30 and the evening meal around 8.The service was attentive but relaxed and the staff were very friendly. There is a lot of Greek food , which is a nice change and it was very good. There is also a lot of choice of other mediterranean food. You can have breakfast at the main restaurant or pre book for the Argo.Evening meals are mainly taken in the main restaurant but you are allowed a meal in the Argo if you are on an all inclusive basis and you can pay extra for a meal in the Ithaka A la Carte restaurant. We ate at both and would recommend them.Lunch can be taken at either the main restaurant or at Argo were they have a barbeque. Evening entertainment is either in the lobby bar eg instrumental and a singer, or in the out door theatre where the entertainment team put on shows , mainly dancing and singing. The standard was above average.I would recommend the Extravganza show. There are lots of activities during the day which you can join in or not.Yoga, tennis, volleyball, archery, rifle shooting , boules and aqua aerobics, or you can just relax by the pool as we did.The Spa is down stairs in the main building, we had a free 15 minute massage, which was ok but not the best, the prices are bit exspensive and its not the most relaxing spa we have been to. We had a couple of trips out and went to Kos town a couple of times.A tip when catching the return journey on the bus, it goes a different way back , so don't panic, the driver announces the drop of points. If you want to swim in the sea bring water shoes as it is stony as you enter the sea.You can also walk along the beach for quite a long way. If you arrive late as we did ie 11pm , the hotel do put on a little buffet, but it had dried out a bit when we had it as the main restaurant closes at 9.30.I would suggest you have something on the plane. We had a late check out room till 6pm which was worth it. Overall we had a great time and we would recommend this hotel and the Island of Kos. I
