Arrival in Arusha

Welome to Tanzania. Upon arrival in Arusha, a local representative will be waiting at the airport to transfer you to your comfortable hotel nestled at the foot of Mount Meru. The rest of the day is free to relax ahead of your safari adventure, or depending on your arrival time, you may want to explore on an optional tour. Choose to discover Arusha National Park on two wheels, a unique way to spot wildlife and get closer to nature. Alternatively, take a scenic flight to witness magnificent views of the world's largest free-standing mountain, Kilimanjaro. Overnight at Arusha Serena Hotel.

Arusha and Serengeti

Transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight to the Serengeti. From your tented accommodation, you’ll spend the next three days exploring the vast plains of the world-famous Serengeti on game drives in state-of-the-art 4x4 vehicles, or on foot during a memorable walking safari (optional). In the evening, spend time around the campfire discussing the day’s sightings with the rangers and your fellow guests. Overnight at Lemala Ewanjan.

Things to do:

3

The Serengeti

The Serengeti is home to one of Africa’s highest concentrations of large mammal species, with a particularly high number of big cats. The park also boasts some of the richest birdlife in the region with over 500 species including ostrich, hornbill, African fish eagle and the secretary bird. Visit during the dry season between June and October and you’ll witness The Great Migration, when over two million wildebeest thunder across the plains in search of lush grasslands. Set off on morning and afternoon game drives exploring the open plains in search of wildlife, before returning to camp for dinner. Overnight at Lemala Ewanjan.

Things to do:

4

The Serengeti

For a whole new perspective of the Serengeti, an optional hot air balloon safari is highly recommended. You’ll wake early and watch as the balloon is prepared, then take flight and drift upwards as the sun rises and wildlife roam below on the vast savannah. Returning to solid ground, spend another memorable day exploring the region and spotting animals on your final day in the Serengeti. Toast the days end with a sundowner in hand as the sun slips below the horizon. Overnight at Lemala Ewanjan Camp.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar is famous for its spectacular white sand beaches and turquoise waters containing multi-coloured coral reefs. Spend your days on this exotic island lounging by the pool or on the beach, soaking up the views. Overnight at Breezes Beach Club and Spa.

Things to do:

7

Zanzibar

No trip to Zanzibar is complete without exploring its unspoilt coral reefs teeming with tropical fish on a snorkelling or diving trip. Continue to unwind or if you have the energy try your hand at kayaking, kite surfing or sailing. Alfred & Gemma Wilson-Dines

Gemma has been a regular visitor to South Africa favouring the spectacular mountains and cinematic Winelands that draw her back time and time again. Her most recent trip to Tanzania offered a whole new perspective of the Great Migration from the romantic heights of a hot air balloon. On the other side of the world, in extraordinary India, Gemma holds vivid memories close to her heart; of cooking chapatis in Amritsar’s shimmering Golden Temple and the soft summer breeze in Shimla's alpine forest.
