A safe stay in Nairobi
It is an old hotel built in the seventies but it is kept in a very good condition. Being a local brand, this hotel is preferred by politicians and used for governmental events. The reception and ballrooms are always filled with politicians, ministers, ambassadors, etc.. There are several restaurants, bars, meeting rooms in the hotel which will provide you with a variety of places to eat, have a drink and chill-out. Being a favorite place for governmental events so the level of security is high which is an important aspect in Nairobi. Rooms: 7/10 spacious, well furnished, comfortable beds, OK amenities Location: 8/10 it is hard to recognize or hail a taxi so your best option is Uber Internet: free & stable Breakfast: 8/10 wide variety and delicious cheese platter Service: 8/10 friendly and professional staff Value: 7/10 hotels are generally overpriced in Nairobi but Serena is on the expensive side P.S On Fridays they have a sea food all-you-can-eat buffet… don’t miss it
All you could ask, and friendly also...
I stayed 3 nights here; before, and to start my safari in Kenya and Tanzania. It does deserve its distinction as being a leading hotel of the world. As well as being complete with every amenity you might expect, lots of cords for phones, computers etc are available for direct wall plug-in. However, what I appreciated about it was the friendliness, attitude, and helpfulness of the staff from the front door, to the front desk, to the room attendant. Breakfast was ;awesome. Egg to order. I had lovely dinners in Herb and Spice in the hotel. The wait staff seemed to really enjoy their jobs. I would definitely stay again.
Rats in cafe Maghreb
We just had a horrible experience in cafe Maghreb after seeing a couple of rats wondering the restaurant. We called the manager and he told us that they are aware of the rats and that they are working on it ???? The manager was very casual about it and did not seem to be worried. I am honestly very shocked by the lack of response from the staff knowing that serena is supposedly a five star hotel.
Nice Ambiance, Loved the Background Music
Great ambiance, the food was good though service abit slow. Will definitely visit again and recommend a friend but hire some young blood in the service department. Do something about the cocktails/Mocktail, they were below my expectations.
We had an issue with our luggage being delayed by 30 hours, which was no fault of the hotel, obviously. The hotel staff were fantastic. The helped us with calling the airlines and even gifted us a pair of clothes at no charge, amazing. Overall the staff was superb and extremely customer oriented. When we go to Nairobi or elsewhere in East Africa, we will look at Serena
