At Home in South Africa...
We were with our 2 daughters. As a family, it was one of our best holidays. It was clean and organized. The food was minimalistic but great. Never skip the soups :) Never skip the barbecues. We met with unique personalities like Nathan, Carisso, Patience and Muth. They made our holiday fantastic. And of course our ranger Gary was wonderful.
We had a wonderful time at Thakadu. There was abundant food: hot + cold breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner, as well as snacks and drinks on the game drives. The lodge itself is attractive and clean and the tents are extremely comfortable - we had a huge king bed with great bed linens and pillows -- more comfortable than the bed I have at home! Plenty of hot water and there is heat at night for cold winter nights. Service was great, just like a luxury hotel with maid service. On the game drives, we saw elephants, rhinos, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, impala, buffalo, birds, and a cobra. Be aware that the morning drive is cold, so dress warmly, but they provide snuggies (hooded blankets) and hot water bottles. Also drinks at meals (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) are not included in the room rate, though the rates are very reasonable for what you get. Overall we had a wonderful time and I would go back!
Amazing stay with great experiences
We really enjoyed our stay at Thakadu. The Safari drives were amazing experiences because we saw rare things (male lions fighting + a mother rhino with her baby just a few meters away). The food was really good, my mother and me a vegetarian and they just cooked extra for us. The rooms are very big and neat, the whole service is just perfect. Yes, it is expensive but it’s worth every single cent!
A great overall experience!
If you Would like to experience a great wildlife safari including a great service, luxury glamping and the big five with the best value for money, book Thakadu river. It took as flight to and a little drive from Jo’burg but it was definitly worth it! Game drives with a max of 3 cars around the animals, no trafficjams, off road bushdrives to approach the animals at 6ft. 1 rangers during your stay, lovely staff, really clean accomodation and amazone food and drinks.
lovely setting and friendly staff
Two excellent nights spent at Thakadu. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you fell welcome. Loved the game drives with Vincent who was very knowledgeable and informative. It was good to hear that Thakadu has strong links with the local community. I would recommend Thakadu without hesitation!
