Reservation under false pretenses
Anyone who's been to Voyager knows that they're known for being a fantastic family hotel with their all inclusive package. They have an extensive and tasty buffet which caters to some of us who have kids that are picky eaters and the most vibrant kiddie club. Therefore, when I called to book a staycation for my family, I made sure to ask about the meals and activities knowing very well the pandemic might have affected operations. Bedan the gentleman I spoke to assured me that service has resumed to normal and I should take the full board. I had even opted for bed and breakfast or HB knowing how my kids can be picky eaters. He categorically stated buffet is back and the All inclusive will resume on 1st September and there's no much difference cost wise between HB and FB. You can imagine the shock when we check in and there's no buffet only plate service...which is fine if we had been informed. This meant that we had to go out for meals after kids barely eating dinner and breakfast as there were no kiddie options and food took an hour to come to the table. As though that was not enough, I ended up paying for full board for all nights and yet we ended up going for meals outside because that was what we booked for. Apparently no one could do anything from the hotel manager, duty manager because Bedan who we reserved with was not on duty and was unreachable on phone. That experience left such a bitter taste in our mouths. I've never been to a hotel where no one can solve your issue and you pay for what you haven't consumed. It will take a while to recover from that terrible experience.
Voyager Hotel Nov 2019
Super friendly helpful staff, Excellent food and amazing entertainment , the rooms are a little tired and would benefit from a new decor, the only over fault I have from the Voyager which was experienced by almost all Westerners venturing on to the beach was the beach boys, who are surprisingly allowed on the Hotel beach who in groups seemingly harass anyone venturing onto the beach trying to sell trips etc and sometimes can come over quite intimidating and visibly angry when you turn them down, it is virtually impossible to go for a swim or walk on the beach without being approached, they really upset my fiance. The beach should be private for any residents and these beach sellers should have their own area further down the beach. I would certainly return if this was the case.
The setting and surroundings of this hotel are so beautiful that it makes up for the comfortable but dated rooms. There is a vast buffet which caters for every palate. The facilities are great and I had a fantastic massage. There are a range of activities to participate in and going out in a glass bottomed boat was one of them. The pools were separated which was great and having the beach within easy reach was a big bonus. The staff are exceptional but I have a list of people who I'd like to thank, who are:- Nzomo, Margaret A, Daupin, Faith, Cynthia, Danbo, Jackson A, Emmanuel B, Joan, June, Lucy (masseuse), the 2 Beatrice's and the staff who maintrained the magical garden.
During our stay in November last year, I already wrote a review. Tripadvisor only allows you to write a second one after 3 months. I promised the chefs Dominique, Nicolas and Vincent to write a small review about the quality of the food. The buffet is excellent with a wide choice and every day sufficiently different, following a theme of where the ship the Voyager has docked that day. However the special dinner we got served for a special occasion was marvelous. Cream of tomato, fresh tomatoes, vegetable stock,, herbs and fresh cream. Fisherman’s basket, Spicy seafood cocktail encased in crispy crepes, set on a seasonal stir fried vegetable and mango salsa. King prawns Mukavi Grilled fresh king prawns rubbed in Masala marinade, served with mashed potatoes. Teriyaki Tournedos Beef filled tournedos grilled and marinated in a rich mushroom and oyster sauce. Dark chocolate obsession Warm chocolate fondant, chocolate mouse and chocolate ice cream. We hope to enjoy this again in November 2020
Fantastic Resort! Amazing Experiences!
This amazing resort has been our best kept secret spot since 2015. The highlight during our stay this February,2020, was a most delectable surprise courtesy of the enchanting Valerie from Guest Relations. She went beyond the nine yards to blow our minds during our special anniversary by gifting us a surprise room upgrade, a complementary masterpiece floral bouquet with matching resplendent floral room decorations and a most tasteful anniversary cake. We enjoyed the animation activities at the fun-pool while our son delighted in the company of Dorcas from the Kids Club. The captivating evening performances, the rich dinner buffet, the specially made food for my toddler and Mercy's special formula cocktails completed each of those truly magical days at the resort. Looking forward to our next fantastic stay at the Voyager!
