Trident Gurgaon, a Delhi oasis

Set in the peaceful Gurgaon district, Trident Hotel is an oasis of calm in hectic Delhi …

By Sunil Sharma
Deputy Vice President of The Oberoi Group

Set away from the thrumming heart of Delhi in the Gurgaon district, Trident Hotel is an oasis of calm. Our USP is light and space, the hotel has been designed so that every room has views of the gardens and we don’t need any artificial lights in the daytime. Unlike most hotels in Delhi, which tend to be vertical high-rise, The Trident is all on one floor and spread over seven acres. That’s the advantage of being away from the centre of the capital, we have the space and tranquillity, so it feels more like being in a tropical resort than a big city.

The property has been built like a grand palace, combining Moroccan, Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. There are sandstone domes and colonnades, double-sized wooden doors, marble bathrooms and fine silks. Our grounds are a real highlight, with reflection ponds and courtyards, an Olympic-sized pool and lawns shaded by champa trees. By night the grounds are lit with flaming torches and the whole resort runs on solar power. The design is really a blend of space, water and light.

After a day of sightseeing in Delhi, guests love to relax by the pool or have a treatment in our Oberoi Spa, we also offer cooking and gardening sessions. When it comes to dining, you can enjoy international cuisine at Cilantro, a Japanese menu at Konomi and food from across India at Saffron, our award-winning speciality restaurant. I think the real heart of Trident though is our signature Oberoi service. Guests often comment on how great our team are and appreciate the sense of peace here.
