Paradise Cove: a romantic Mauritian getaway

This adult-only hotel is loved by couples, especially honeymooners, and is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World…

By Christian Braeu
General Manager of Paradise Cove

Paradise Cove is a romantic boutique hotel set in Anse la Raie, a turquoise lagoon with white sands on the north coast of Mauritius. Recently revamped, the adult-only hotel is loved by couples, especially honeymooners, and is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Picture gardens dotted with thatched love nests, a clifftop infinity pool overlooking the northern islands and a Cinq Mondes spa with huts for couples’ massages.

As an intimate boutique resort, we have just 75 rooms set over three hectares filled with exotic plants. The architecture is inspired by traditional, Mauritian plantation homes with metal roofs and tropical interior design. Inside, you’ll find romantic touches such as four-poster beds with drapes, double shower heads and balconies overlooking the cove. You can spend the day lounging by one of our three pools or down on the beach, where we offer watersports like kayaking and snorkelling.

Guests enjoy our unique You&Me concept, which offers tailored experiences for couples. These include Mauritian cooking classes, sunset champagne cruises and stargazing with a local astronomer. For a special meal, I’d recommend The Cove, which has a fine-dining menu that specialises in fresh seafood. This is the most exclusive of our four restaurants, with just nine tables on the beach that overlook our salt-water plunge pools and the lagoon.

We get amazing feedback about our dine-around concept, which features a mixture of African, Asian and European cuisines. You can enjoy everything from live cooking to Mauritian and Indian buffets, Japanese dishes at XO and tapas platters. The Peninsula is one of our most popular restaurants thanks to its wooden deck with views of the lagoon and northern islands. There’s also live music from local DJs and musicians – we even have a Mauritian tea station and all-day rum bar.

What’s really special about Paradise Cove though is our team. We have 160 staff members who, apart from our sushi chef, are all Mauritian – some have been here almost 30 years. We’re a diverse mix but a very tight-knit team, like family. Guests love our warm, personalised service and eco-friendly credentials, which include a zero-plastic policy and sourcing our products from local suppliers. This includes our tea, which guests can help themselves to in our bulk shop.
