On our curated itineraries, you’ll go beneath the skin of the big-hitting cities while uncovering lesser-known areas too…
Japan is incredibly vast, and there’s so much to see that it can be hard to know where to start when planning a trip independently.
If you’re wanting to be shown the best bits by a local insider who’ll take the hassle out of the planning, an escorted tour might be for you.
On our curated itineraries, there is a maximum of 14 passengers who you’ll get to know at your first night welcome dinner. Together you’ll go beneath the skin of the big-hitting cities while uncovering lesser-known areas too. You’ll have opportunities to meet local people, learn all about Japanese culture and sample local delicacies, guided by an expert who’ll take you to the best spots.
You’ll stay in characterful hotels and ryokans chosen for their uniqueness, and embark on memorable excursions handpicked by our experts. There’ll be optional experiences to choose from too – from cycling tours in Kyoto to swinging a samurai sword in Tokyo – and with a group to share the experience with, it’s a good option if you’re travelling solo. At the end of all our tours we include a farewell dinner, giving you a chance to share your experiences together.
Our escorted tours also offer great value for money compared with a private equivalent, and with a mix of transport to get you around – including rides on the country’s famous Shinkansen trains – you’ll get an authentic glimpse into the local way of life, seeing a side to the country you might not uncover alone.
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Richard, who's travelled extensively in Japan. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the tea devotee who'll introduce you to the ceremony surrounding Japan's national drink, the noodle guru who'll teach you how to make the perfect bowl of soba and the ryokan owner who'll tutor you in the relaxing art of the onsen.
