Cabo Serai is an eco-friendly haven set in a secluded part of Goa, on a forested hilltop 100-feet above Cabo De Rama Beach. When we built the resort, we ensured there was minimal impact on the environment – I’m proud to say we didn’t cut a single tree on the entire 15 acres. The forest is full of monkeys and birds and the beach below is a pristine, white-sand cove where dolphins play in the waves. Every aspect of the property is eco-conscious, from our recycling and rainwater harvesting system to refillable water jars and organic food.
Stay in our wonderful wooden cottages with arched roofs on stilts, each one has natural ventilation and a huge deck overlooking the sea. We also have luxury tents which are popular – you feel like you’re living in the wild. When it comes to décor, everything has been sourced locally, from the furniture to the art work. My favourite feature is the decks – you can lie on them all day looking at the sea, many of our guests never actually leave Cabo Serai because they love it here so much.
Wellness is a big part of Cabo Serai, we have two hilltop yoga shalas, a pool and activities like forest bathing. When we take guests on nature walks through the forest and along the cliffs, all you can hear is the insects buzzing and birds chirping. We see so much wildlife here too, we’ve documented 85 species of marine and forest birds, as well as civets and dolphins – we’ve even seen leopard paw prints in the woods.
Cabo Serai is known for its healthy cuisine, we use very little fat and oil and grow a lot of our ingredients, from pineapple and pomegranate to cashew and coconut. Guests rave about our private, candle-lit dining experiences on the beach at sundown. People tell me that what they enjoy most about Cabo Serai is the tranquillity, it’s one of the few places where you don’t hear any traffic. Guests also love the staff – we’ve built a culture that’s people-focused, our team comes from the local village and have a true passion for the job.
