This deluxe hotel is the perfect place if you’re looking to balance time in Orlando’s theme parks with relaxing days away from the action in a large resort.

If you’re planning on spending plenty of time on your Orlando holiday relaxing and enjoying the facilities of a resort hotel, Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate is an excellent option. As well as a complex of swimming pools, there is a good choice of restaurants, two acclaimed golf courses (plus adventure golf!), and a large spa. Restless types will find activities to keep them occupied during days around the resort, and when you’re ready to hit the parks, there’s complimentary transportation to Walt Disney World – you just need to reserve a spot on the bus.

Water babies are in for a treat. There’s a lazy river, a wave pool, water slides, and a zero-entry pool perfect for tiny tots.
Florida is renowned for its excellent golf, and this resort has two championship golf courses. There are also 30 hitting bays featuring the latest technology to see your shot trace and play virtual courses.
A roster of recreational activities keeps everyone occupied, and there’s a chargeable evenings-only kids club for parents to make the most of the resort’s restaurants.
There’s scheduled complimentary transport to the Walt Disney World parks with a reservation, but you’ll need to make your own way to Universal Orlando and other attractions.

Touches of soothing lavender shades finish off over a thousand modern rooms and suites nicely. Luxury bathrooms with backlit make-up mirrors have been pepped up with patterned tiles, lending a little interest to the comfy, hotel rooms. If you want a walk-in shower, choose a Deluxe Executive room, although the balcony rooms are worth serious consideration if the idea of starting a warm day in Orlando with a morning coffee overlooking the grounds sounds tempting. Note that there’s Wi-Fi here, but it’s not free.

Deluxe Room

With two queen-sized beds, the smallest rooms at the hotel can still sleep up to four guests. There’s also the option to have one king-sized bed instead. Both options have showers over the baths in the bathrooms.

If you’re dashing out to the theme parks, it’s handy to know there’s a handy deli for a quick breakfast and stocking up on snacks. But for those easygoing resort days, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Trevi’s, a poolside lunch at Croc’s, and a choice of Asian, Italian, or American restaurants for dinner.

There’s a 24-hour fitness centre with a wide range of strength and cardio equipment, including Peloton bikes and courts for basketball, tennis, and pickleball. There’s also a jogging trail around the resort. For relaxation, Mokara Spa offers massages, facials, manicures and salon services, with a choice of spa days alongside individual treatments.

Hop aboard a four-seater surrey bike for a circuit around the resort. Fishing expeditions can be arranged through the hotel, so you can head out to fish for the region’s largemouth bass on a catch-and-release basis.

Children are well accommodated in the rooms here, whether they’re happy to share a bed, camp out on a sofa bed, or whether you’d prefer a connecting room for the benefit of an extra bathroom. There are also suites – look out for some with kitchenettes, particularly handy if you’re travelling with tiny tots.

A kids club, Camp Omni Kids Escape, is available for a per-hour charge. It’s an evening-only service from 5 pm to 10 pm for children aged 5 to 10, allowing parents to enjoy the resort’s restaurants.

On arrival, look out for a weekly schedule of resort activities, which may include kids’ arts and crafts, games, and pizza making. There’s also an arcade with air hockey and driving games.

This golf-focused resort has two championship 18-hole golf courses, the International Course and the National Course, and a lit, nine-hole, par three course perfect for practising. Individual and family lessons are available. There’s also themed Crane’s Adventure Golf near the resort pools for everyone to join in the fun.
