Wildlife, wilderness and electric blue lakes. Alberta holidays are a force of nature and a breath of mountain fresh air. No matter how you approach Alberta, there’s always something that will take your breath away. Home to the jaw dropping Canadian Rockies, the province encapsulates everything that’s spectacular about the great outdoors. Ice skate against a backdrop of monster mountains, take a gondola ride through the clouds, cut across glacial lakes by canoe and discover forested trails leading to magical waterfalls and emerald waters. The snowcapped peaks of Banff National Park are within touching distance. That dazzling jade green world of Lake Louise could almost be otherworldly. In Jasper National Park, grizzly bears, bighorn sheep and elk live side by side and often come close to the road early morning and evening to feed. From here, you can sail across velvet waters to Spirit Island where scenery sparkles like a royal gem. Stay in Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper and you’re in prime position to explore Alberta’s resplendent national parks. Want to experience the wild in an entirely different way? The flashy cowboy city of Calgary, once a frontier town, answers that call. Entry point to the Rockies, it’s worth stopping here for the city’s hip food scene, heritage buildings and two-steppin' lifestyle.
