Great resort with friendly staff
One of the nice resort with very friendly staff. I would also give special thanks to the general manager for helping us during our stay. Unfortunately the western restaurant was closed during our stay so we don’t have much choice for dinner.
Returned to The Mia after a two week tour of Vietnam for a few days downtime after a busy couple of weeks. This place is special - we had the same garden villa as three years ago, fabulous as ever. The villas are very well appointed, luxury sleeping area, indoor lounge area, inside bathroom plus outside shower and a covered outdoor lounge area set in beautifully maintained gardens. The pool and restaurant are a 30 second walk away set by a perfect white sand beach, everything you need for a few days of indulgent R&R. Breakfast was included in our package, excellent a la carte and buffet choices. During the day we were constantly provided with complimentary soft drinks, ice lollies and fruit kebabs as well as access to drinks and food from the bar. Dinner at Sandals restaurant was also very good, slightly reduced menu choices compared to our last stay but excellent nonetheless. The resort is located half way between Camh Ran Bay and Nha Trang with little in the way of bars/ restaurants nearby if you wanted to eat off site (we didn’t) so you’d need a taxi to venture out - we knew this and were perfectly happy to stay in the resort which had everything we wanted for the last few days of our trip. The staff at The Mia are brilliant without exception, reception staff, porters, waiting staff, pool boys, maids, gardeners - all wonderfully friendly, hard working and willing to help guests out with whatever they need, even in the middle of the current Coronavirus situation which, sadly, meant the resort was pretty empty and a worrying time for all in the hospitality industry. Love this hotel, very sad to leave but we will return when things settle down.
Wonderful in every way!
We booked this to have a few days of total relaxation during our SE Asia tour. It was wonderful, we absolutely loved it. There was no up-selling when we arrived but we did change to an ocean front villa because we took one look at the resort and decided to spoil ourselves. We were so glad we did. The villas were really lovely, quietly luxurious. Service was outstanding, especially Onha at Sandals, such a lovely warm person. We always judge restaurants and hotels by how they deal with issues that arise and we could not fault the staff; they dealt with the issue that arose superbly leaving us feeling as if they really valued us. Our only quibble was that as vegetarians the menu was limited and we really preferred to stay in the resort rather than go into the town. Our meals were good rather than excellent and we are fussy, but the service, views and sense of tranquility made our evenings so special. A thoroughly wonderful resort that I would not hesitate to recommend.
Nice resort, welcoming - but watch out for the 'upsell'
I've stayed in a few luxury resorts and this is up there, but let down by the immediate feeling the resort is 'on the take'. Whether it's the saturday buffet and trying to only sell you that, to charging you premium prices (over £4) for a bottle of budget water, it seems like the resort doesn't always walk the talk. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The rooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. The pool is excellent as is the private beach, which is clean and secluded. The breakfast choice is varied and welcome, however, compared to the rest of Vietnam, the restaurant food of an evening is average and expensive. There is a limited choice of local food, the menu prioritising western dishes (pizza, pasta, steak etc.). This, coupled with the 'upsell', and the immediate feeling that you're being taken advantage of (because you're captive in the resort), is the reason for this missing out on a full 5 rating.
What beutiful place
We were offered an upgrade when we checked in. Glad we took it. It was a villa on top of a cliff. Two bedrooms and a private pool that overlooked the ocean. Fantastic! The people were great in helping us get around to the city and on the resort. Very clean and very well maintained. Good food too. The breakfasts were tasty.
