Everything was great except bad experience with the receptionist upon checking in!
My boyfriend and me stayed here in 16 Aug as a short staycation and for my birthday celebration as well. I really appreciate the hospitality of all the staff from bellman who always helps us to open the door or carries our luggage, to the housekeeper who always smiles and say "xin chao" with us. The team in the lounge is absolutely nice and helpful. However, I wish I had not experienced the inconvenience in the very first moment when I just got to hotel with the lady in front desk who did the check-in for me (about 3-4PM). I gave her my ID card then she asked: "Will you stay here or just come to his room for a moment ?" while my boyfriend had booked a room FOR 2 PEOPLE and he was sitting nearby there to wait for me. That question is kinda impolite and makes me feel depreciated and really irritates me until now. Because I come from the South and stay with a foreigner so she can assume something ugly? I've never seen any staff in 5 stars hotel asking that silly and ridiculous question.
A good stay overall
We stayed here for two nights during a recent tour of Vietnam. By now things were starting to close down ahead of the Pandemic. We were amongst the few guests who were staying here. I couldn't fault the hotel for service. Would recomend.
Great value city hotel
We stayed here in Oct 19 at the start of a 3 week long tour of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. It was a central hotel with great facilities. The room was spacious and while some may find the decor quirky.. silver furniture and black walls it was extremely relaxing. one small point of caution - remember to close the blinds in the toilet window, that faces into the bedroom, unless you want to share everything with the other occupant of the room. I am not sure if this is common in all rooms and I cant remember our room number. Food was plentiful, interesting and local, so I was able to get my fix of omelette with chilli and noodles. Very helpful staff who were very forgiving of the fact that we spoke no Vietnamese. Obviously a business hotel as it was full of every nationality on their phones & laptops even at breakfast. Having spent 15 years travelling for business I recognised the type and was thankful I was able to visit on a holiday. Good position in the city and quite easy to walk to various sites. Hanoi is wonderful, old & new at the same time. The university is worth seeing and the museum / exhibitions on the Vietnam war should not be missed. I am old enough to remember the war and learnt a lot visiting it. The wall of journalist / photographers who died is heartbreaking. It is a city you need to walk around. the traffic is hectic and crazy but walk the streets and you will see so much more
GM- Nicolas and His lovely team. World Class.
Would never would have came here to this Hotel. Hilton guy here. Hilton Hanoi Opera was closing down due to the Pandemic. Had to choose somewhere close by. Heard great things about Movenpick but they are not in my chain. Oh well here i try..... Gave them a shot and MAN.... AM I changed for life to this Chain- The Accor Group. Greeted nicely by the Door man who helped ease me in the bags and boxes. You can tell he service from the heart and was extremely polite and friendly. A little issue with my rented car/driver did not want to drop off my guest because it was too far. No problem. the Door man arranged a car to drop off my guest within Minutes. WOW. made me look good real fast. swift and cool move by him. The front desk girl smiled while taking care of me checking in. You know even with the mask on- I can tell she is smiling because the positive vibe and again the eyes don't lie. She wants to help make my stay as good as possible. As I was checking in- approached me was a great dressed man and said "Hello" Welcome to the Movenpick. My name is Nicolas. I'm thinking to myself. "who is this guy" looked at the card and realised he was a GM here. Took care of expired visa situation at the front desk. Made sure my checking in process is good. looked at me in the eyes and said. If you needed anything please let me know. WOW. He didn't have to do that. No wonder where the hospitality came from . Its from the Top. Went upstairs to my room. AMAZING room. Nicely renovated. looks very classy. I am very please. The best doesn't stop there. around 4pm a bell rang and in comes chocolate and dessert snack of the day. WHAT? that gives a smile on the face. Where have i been in Hanoi All this time i'm thinking to myself. Went to have breakfast done the next day. came back to the room to realised the ROOMs was spotless like i just got there once again. The house keeping is spot on. made sure I had shaving kits etc. Ordered room service. May I say within 20minutes I had my food. hot. Bread hot. wow. what a team they have going on here. I am so impressed I had to get my Accor account going and i am HOOKED- I will not only stay here in Hanoi but I was told by Nicolas they have it in Bangkok as well. That is where I am from. Will definitely check that our as well with the BDMS. Met him again during the stay - he asked how was the Pho beef here (a dish at the hotel) I said its fine. why? oh I saw you didn't eat much of it please let me know if there is anything wrong. .... WHAT???!!! he even looked at what dish i did not finish. This guy is detailed like my grandmother on what I eat and i did not. WOW. talk about paying attention to the guest. Out of this world. I simply told him i over ordered and couldn't finish it. wow. enough said about that..... too good to be true. Nicolas and his team is superb. I have been around the world and if you are looking for a personal touch. Here it is. Never been with the Accor group. This team changed my mind. Amazing team - You have a customer for life.
Fantastic support from the all Hotel staff at a difficult time
We had brilliant support and service from the hotel staff during our stay at a difficult time with the global corona outbreak. The hotel staff went the extra mile to make our stay feel just as special, we probably used the hotel facilities more than we would normally in the last couple of nights as we waited for news of a flight home and during that time we sampled the excellent food on offer in the restaurant. Special thanks to Nguyen Gia Toai (Duty Manager) and all the front of house staff, security and reception.
