Great hotel good location
It is a great five-star hotel, but a longer walk to waterfront area. The breakfast has the most variety I have ever seen and exceptional service. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool area is nice and has a full gym, which is hard to find in most hotels.
Clean and comfortable hotel - great breakfast!
Pros: Very clean, large hotel, various services, variety of breakfast options, very helpful staff and walkable distance to the old quarter (10-15mins) Cons: Very minor point, but the shower door had a small gap which meant that water escaped. There was also building works happening next door, at the time of stay, but it didn't cause too much of an issue for me as I was out of the hotel for most of the day. If you are looking to relax during the day or by the pool, this may have been a nuisance. It is worth checking with the hotel directly to see if the building work is still continuing.
Melia saved the day
We were visiting Vietnam to see my daughter who works in Ho Chi Min City for Fulbright University. Everyone said we had to see Hanoi. We flew VietJet a low cost carrier for $110 round trip. Great deal and only a two hour flight. My daughter had booked a AirBnB and when we arrived it turns out that it was not what we thought it would be be beyond the location in the Old Quarter it was not a great place. We went to a coffeehouse got on WIFI and booked two rooms in the Melia Hanoi for $99 each. This is a very nice hotel and we got very lucky that we were able to get a room. The hotel is in a great location and we could walk to many historic places. It is next door to a charming pedestrian street of book sellers and two blocks fro the Women's Museum which is a very nice way to understand Vietnamese culture and society. The hotel has three ATMs just off property for exchange. It has a really good coffee station in the lobby- although they do not have American Brewed coffee, Closest I could have was a traditional coffee press with cold whole milk on the side. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and not small. The hotel staff was very nice. The concierge Giap went above and beyond. He booked us a private driver and helped us arrange tickets to The Quintessence of Tonkin (Hanoi) without the bus. The show is an hour from the hotel and is fabulous but it is a journey. A larger comfortable private car that cost $70 and was better then taking a bus and saved us an hour of time back and forth. I highly recommend this hotel. A safe bet for experiencing a wonderful city.
Nice location and stay
Recently renovated! I stayed at this hotel before and now it looks very nice and clean design. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is little uncomfortable during the morning. Some of the food are old from the previous day. However, the king bed is very wide and very comfortable. All the bed sheet and tower are very silky and clean. The location is excellent that about 1km from the old quarter or the HoanKiem lake. Very nice and easy walk ...
Nice Class Hotel
Hotel was beautiful. Clean, good security. Hotel staff friendly. Room was clean, tidy with amenities. Location a little walk to Old Quarters. It will be 5 stars if it is located in the Old Quarters. But just a personal preference.
